I don't think they're gonna cancel anything SW bust related or statue. LotR is pretty much a dead line, so I can see why they did what they did. Indy will probably be next.

The classics busts weren't interesting, and I was kind of trying to talk myself into getting the HP ones, since they were doing characters unrepresented in the mini-busts.

I'm sorry to see Dark Galadriel go though. I was really worried about the HP PFs, but it looks like they made the cut. But I'm afraid the Snape and Dumbledore they have yet to solicit may not make it into production.

Sign of the times, sign of the times. I think most collectors are refocusing and thinning their collections, Gentle Giant is no different. Just cutting out the fat.

In this instance, I don't think it's the economy at play. GG's been digging it's own grave long before the economic troubles kicked in. Over the years, their product quality has been lesser than early on, some pieces even horrible tragedies, they've played shady games with exclusives, they've just been a poorly run company for some time and without someone or something to save them from themselves, they'll eventually die out.

I'm still waiting on the Prince Nuala mini bust from Hellboy II. :tap It's been for freak'n EVER since that was supposed to be released and still no word. I think they were supposed to come out in early Fall.

Didn't see them on the list but I'm wondering if they will ever see the light of day.

Last I heard its still coming out.

I'm glad to see the Wall-E maquette isn't on that list, I intend to get one. I need to hurry up and order one though.

I think GG just gets a bad rap. I think it started with the exclusives and the bandwagon followed. It took one prestige member to say I hate GG and the bandwagon followed. Its like I canceled an item, and then here comes the wagon. I collect GG HP bust, and I thought they were all A+++. very rare. Its up there with SS Marvel and SW PF line. It doesn't get better. I seen GG LOTR animated and SW stuff and thought it looked awesome. But the bad rap? I just dont understand it. Yeah, exclusives, and some bad pieces. But it happens to every company.

I imagine it depends on how long you've been collecting them and what you collect.

I've been buying Star Wars pieces from GG since day 1, and the early busts had great paint jobs, soft, matte skin tones, very realistic, detailing on hair and clothing. Pieces made in the past 2 years or so really dropped off in the quality. They're still pretty nice, but compared to what GG was doing, they're a dropoff. They switched paints or something and a lot of pieces started to look cheaper because of the finish and less detailed applications used on them. In the past 2 years, I'd say the Emperor mini bust is the best, most like the early days bust they've done in a long time, really happy with how that one turned out, but ones like the Old Ben and Jedi Luke just don't have the same quality as their earlier stuff. If their current quality was how they were all along, I think a lot of people would be fine with them, but they did some great things early on and they just don't seem to put the care and quality into their work like they used to.

To me it seems they use a "brighter" paint then most companies. It gives it a little cartoonish color, but I only have the HP and LOTR stuff. I was going to get the GG Trinity Matrix statue awhile back, sorry I passed now.

Their quality is fine if you're used to it within the past few years, it's been a pretty consistent level, but where they started off at one level and the current level is noticeably lower, if you've followed them from the start, you'll be a little saddened they dropped in quality. Add that to some of the exclusive moves they've made and some of the odd products they offered in the Star Wars license and there's a few factors that have turned collectors off to them. I'm sad the Obi-Wan classics bust is cancelled, I always wanted a ROTS mini and the classics seemed my only chance and that's gone, hopefully the Luke Hoth mini isn't going to be cancelled, I think that looks really cool and I want a Luke mini with lightsaber.

Those Kustomz and Classics were worthless anyway. I'm glad that they're canceling them if it means focusing attention on the genuinely cool stuff that they do.

Well I'm just glad the LoTR and SW Animaquettes I want to get are already released. I wonder if the new Maquettes based off the new Clone Wars series will make it out. They look really good, and cause I really like the show I might consider them.

The GG cut list is crap anyways...GG is not done by any means...not with a slew of new Star Wars busts & statues slated from now to the end of the year...

I'm sorry to see Dark Galadriel go though.
I wanted her too... and the Wiki.

I agree, I had some of the very early busts myself (ie. Tarkin, the Gamorrean Guard, X-wing Luke, etc) and they ARE very pastel in appearance. I think it is due to the fact that GG doesn't use polystone like SS (or at least not the exact same polystone) their material is more like a porcelain, and the paints don't "soak in" quite as well.

Never cared for that much. You can immediately tell the difference comparing any GG bust with the SSW LOTR busts; add to that the incredibly boring bases.
