So? Did you manage to find anyone? :D

Yes I did. But I forgot the t-shirts and focused on the small GB-sign on the arm and the nameplate. But the t-shirts are no problem aswell. The only thing we have to look for is that the t-shirts should consist of atleast 19% cotton. But I am searching for someone who will be willing to do the t-shirts after they are printed as this will be cheaper... I will let you know when I have more on this.

Here's what I found out for the sign/nameplate:

First I talked to my Mom, showed her the thread and the Ultimate 12" GB Ray which definitly rocks. She was so amazed that we decided to sit down next weekend and do a few prototypes for the GB-Logo and nameplates in 1/6 scale. These will not be printed but stitched (with a machine, don't worry). I will post the result when finished. As I have no 12" figure I do not really know the size we need for the signs. I would be happy if anybody could help, otherwise I would have to guess.
Second I went to a local t-shirt-printer and talked to him, explained our idea and asked him what the smallest thing is he could print. He told me that printing the GB-sign and nameplate in 1/6scale wouldn't be any problem, but mentioned - and I think he is right - that cutting them and still make them look good could be hard. I will print a test asap and simply try. The other problem could be attaching it to the figure. Gluing wouldn't be the nicest but in this size the only way to attach to the figure. So signs and nameplates made of cloth might not be the best way.
So we went back to the idea printing it on a good quality paper. Cuttig out and gluig on the suit wouldn't be a problem, but is it only me or does anybody else have a problem with this variant? I simply do not like the idea of adding paper to such an awesome figure set. We try to make the figs as accurate as possible and than adding paper...
Ok, I finally sat down an thought again and than I found another possibility: Magnetfoil. It is quiet thin and printable. you can attach it easily to the suit with another piece of magnetfoil and it will look better than paper in my opinion. Problem: It will be a bit more expensive.
I was quit happy with this idea talked to the t-shirt-printer again and dam, he liked the idea of doing 1/6 scale Ghostbusters, so we talked for a while and he came up with the idea of printing the sign and the nameplate directly to the suit... :duh I dont know if this might be a better idea, I guess it is not so bad though. I would be clear printed, no gluing or cutting will be neccessary, but if done once you cannot remove it anymore AND I am sure there will be a few suits damaged before getting the right feeling. The suits should atleast consist of 19 % cotton if anybody thinks about printing the GB-sign directly to the suit.

As for the costs: I don't know but I do not think that it will differ very much.

Sumed up we have five possibilities for the sign and nameplate:

1.) stitched

2.) printed on cloth and glued on suit

3.) printed on photopaper and glued on suit

4.) printed on magnetfoil and attached with another one

5.) printed directly to the suit

So what du you think guys? I personally favour the stitched way as this is as accurate to the original as possible, but before I am able to try it I need the recommended size of the sign/nameplate. Otherwise I would go for the magnetfoil as it seems to be very clean (no glue)...

I found that the red circle of the no ghost logo should be 1/2" in dia. to best match the on screen uniforms. I made the name tag 3/4" long x 3/8" tall, but it doesn't need to be exactly that size...a slightly reduced size works fine, as well.

As for the material, I used a thin adhesive vinyl that can be printed on and cut to any exact shape on a plotter, which most local printers and signmakers have.

And if you're looking for the perfect permanent glue, I use Super Glue High Performance Future Glue. It comes in a small squeeze tube with a red cap. Pretty much everything I fabricated is held together with this glue.

Hope this helps! :D

So check out this custom Egon on ebay:

$400+!!! That's nuts! I'm glad to know even if I have custom paint work done on Ada's heads that mine will never cost that much.

The sculpt is definitely Ada's Egon w/ the big hair and the suit is a Sat. Toys prison jumpsuit. Not bad--pack looks nice, but not as nice as Jason's or Nick's. The paint on the head is pretty basic and the logos look smallish, but I actually really like how the Sat. Toys suits looks on him--with the only exception being around his wrists--but I think the suit just needs a bit of weathering to really fit better. I wish there was a better shot of the name-tag over the pocket.

Yeah...I remember the guy selling those contacted me a while back for some suggestions and advice of making these. Good thing for him (and us) I commissioned Ada to sculpt that Egon head! A funny side note about that - when Ada's first proof came back, the hair looked a bit like Kramer from Seinfeld, so I Photoshopped it REAL big and high as a visual guide for her to get that trademark Egon hairdo! haha :lol

At some point I'd like to get Ada to do an original Stantz for me/us...with either a shocked/spooked or "oh wow!" expression! :D

Well, I think we're just about to comission Stant next, and I think we're generally aiming for a suprised/disbeleif look. Not as severe as the Slimer scene though :lol

the sleeves are baggy but he needs elbow pads. that should help with the bagginess. he's got a working PKE though. that is pretty damn sweet.

Yeah, I'm now pretty sold on the Sat Toys jumpsuits--unless we commission someone to make the suits for us straight on, I think I will be staying with those suits. I think with a little weathering they'll be near perfect, with the exception of the pockets, but that's not something that would bother me that much.

From my point of view the way Jason did them is properbly the best way as they look very clean and accurate. Also it sounds quiet cheap and easy... Nevertheless I will try to stitch a few pieces is they could look good aswell. But Jason's variant seems to be a hughe hit... I will concentrate on the t-shirts. :whip

@ Jason: Thx for the information about the size :banana

I just noticed this...it looks like Nick's pack is a bit too big?

ProtonPackScales.jpg

Jason posted this in his Ray custom section. Nick's packs are a little big vertically, but they also could hang a little lower than the one Caz (I think) has in the center pics. Jason--yours actually looks a tad small as far as thickness from the back of the suit to the back of the pack on the bottom.

If anyone's interested, I still have two extra complete sets for the Saturday Toys khaki suits. I'll put these up in the trade forum if needed, but just asking $19 + shipping each, which is what I paid for them. Drop me a PM for more details :)
