GI Joe 2: Retaliation

Holy **** this movie sucked. If people are saying this is better than the first, I don't ever want to see it.

The movie was just a meh from start to finish. Take out of the Cobra logos and this is just some average plain jane whatever.

The mountain scene was the only part that was remotely interesting. And I just kept wondering how all those ninjas kept from getting their ropes tangled. And also Snakes and Jinx musta had some really long rope to rappel down the mountain house.

Why is everyone taking their masks off every 3 seconds?

Why did they give Firefly some redneck Alabama accent?

Was it too hard to give any of the "joes" that were killed at the begriming names? Wouldn't hurt to have one called Rock n Roll or Rampart.

The ten fingers bit made my chuckle but I just sat there in disgust the rest of the film. Terrible film and terrible take on GIJoe.

Transformers may not have been a accurate adaption, but at least it was made by someone who loved cars, can do action and had a fantastic soundtrack. Retaliation had nothing.

I don't see how any fan would waste their money on the HT figures as well. None of those figures are GIJoe.

I don't mind Taters. I think that people make too big a deal out of him. Frankly, I don't even think he's a bad actor. I just think that he is so completely average that he neither detracts from a film nor adds to it (with the exception of his comedic work). It's like he's in the phantom zone; he is present, but he has no effect. Also, Palicki's a bit older than I am, but, frankly, I have no problems with older women, especially when they look like that.

I love him in comedies. He's ****ing horrible as Duke. I'm glad he's dead.

Tatum is getting better. And I have no problem watching his films. As long as he's not playing a character like Duke.

Very ignorant to gi joe but I thought duke was the main character so I was surprised to see him go, but joe fans didn't really sweat it much so I guess it wasn't a big deal.

I meant people who review movies as a job sometimes write terribly and don't give me a good sense of the movie, and you did better even though you're just someone posting your views. Saw it yesterday. Wasn't impressed, wasn't sickened. It does seem like they tried to use the same sort of stylistic formula that worked with setting giant mechanical aliens in the real world. For what it was intended to be, I think it did an admiral job.

Things that could have been improved:
Should have done a Predator/Aliens "on approach" to the nuke site introducing a bunch of the green shirts. They could have had so many cool little nods in there to the plentiful stockpile of unused Joe characters. It also would have made them "real people", so even though we just met them, their loss would mean more than a bunch of background characters.
Zartan went out like a real wuss. For a guy who infiltrated a martial arts society, he sure didn't wield any fighting skills. Or testicular fortitude.

All in all good though. Worth the money. In most parts of the country.

I thought Cobra Commander was the best part of this movie. I could really rant on about the rest -but CC was awesome!

My favorite thing was the couple of times Cobra peeps would use a FANG copter to escape. Now that is G.I.Joe. But, alas, those moments were few and far between.

The movie is ultimately a dud. The best thing about it is it's not as bad as ROC.

Oh, and RZA as the Arishikage Master? Awful. As bad as anything in ROC. Seriously, he sucks. And the makeup was worse than a grade school stage play. WTF was that crap doing in an actual movie?

I thought the same thing. I whispered to my wife "Why's he always strutting around in slow-mo??"

~~I thought the movie was an improvement over the last one for sure, but that isn't saying much considering the standard set after RoC. I just wish we had more ninja fights that were actually worth watching. Those guys were nothing more than cannon fodder.

Did anyone else lose it during the Arashikage scene with RZA, Snake Eyes, and Stormshadow when they're like "You were framed!!!! And Jinx ended up being such a wast of a cool character. I feel we could completely delete her character, re-edit dialogue, and still accomplish everything with just Snake Eyes by himself.

I don't know. The RZA "blind master" stuff was so far into the realm of bat**** crazy sheer ****ing ridiculousness that I kind of enjoyed it in that "so bad it's hilarious" sort of way.

I came home and watched Dredd again.
