GI Joe 2: Retaliation

Saw it today. It's alright. I enjoyed it but didn't like that they killed my favorite joe. I did really like the look of CC in this one.

Watched it. Went in expecting to be disappointed, went out feeling good.
I wouldn't be able to stand another go at ROC, but I wouldn't mind watching Retaliation again.

Viewed it in 3D, and this is actually the first time a 3D movie is making me duck!
Good job in this aspect. I think the 3D conversion was done well. And that's coming from
someone who hated ASM and Avengers 3D!

Interestingly, by the end of the movie, I was happy Tater died early. Rock
the Block seemed to fit in the leader role better imo. Just something about
the way he acts (or maybe because he actually ACTS. ).

Cobra Commander has better "stage" presence this time. The new mask
and long coat really helped a lot to give that ominous feel. He just needs to
umm...like actually do something!!

I had high expectations for Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow.
They didn't disappoint.

Glad I have Snake Eyes AND Storm Shadow on PO.

I wish the movie had more of Willis, he did a good job for what little he did.

Lady Jaye and Jinx were good additions to the team. Flint was o.k.

The movie overall was solid. Perhaps, the parts with the Arashikage master
seemed rushed, but I still got the message they were trying to deliver.

The scene with the nukes flying all over was absurd. The satellites were too, but
hey, what cobra WMD was never absurd?

After a bad start, the franchise is actually shaping up pretty well.

I didn't walk out of the cinema saying what a classic this'll be, but at least I
didn't feel ripped off. This doesn't deserve all the hate it's getting.

IDK, but long time Joe fans seem to be hating anything new with Joes too much.
HAHA peace..

Movie's not an Avengers or TDKR, but I liked it more than ASM.

I thought Snake Eyes was a badass in this. Thought his head/helmet was a bit big for his body.

The mountain side sequence was dope.

I haven't seen it yet either, but the only complaints I've seen are that he has some upper armored pieces that some people don't like, seems much better than the "lip suit"

Snake Eyes had a power rangers bobble head to him. He should of wore the same face mask as Storm Shadow but with shades.

He looks okay, but with it being all black and with all the action, you can just ignore the changes.

The way I see it, this was quite an improvement over RoC, and, if they continue with the trend, by series end, we might get an amazing GI Joe movie.

Hopefully I think the Joes deserve better. G.I. Joes are a classic
after all. It just seems really hard to translate it into a perfect movie.

Good review, I am a diehard joe fan, and I enjoyed it alot, if they are really Joe fans, they have read many multiple storylines of comics, I have read all Joe comics since Marvel #1 and these movies are just the same, a different take on the Joeverse, I accept ROC, don't love it, but I don't love every story I have read either.

I figured G.I. Joe storyline changes a lot in the comics. It's good to
hear the movie matches well with the comics.

Well I'm not. Just wanted to share everything I found worth mentioning.

Well, from all of the interviews that Chu has done, it seems like this is just a starting point for his vision. Unlike GL, I think this film will do well enough that we'll get a sequel (and some insight into what that vision will be).

After seeing the movie, a big WTF to HT for wanting to make Colton over Cobra Commander

Just went to this with my friend who's also a GI Joe fan and we both thought this movie was awesome. Killing off Duke was kind of a nod to the original GI Joe cartoon movie.

I still can't get over how that scene seemed so absurd , but it was a
good nod to the "WWIII will happen in seconds" theory. The angry birds
moment made me s******.

I still wonder if they aren't going to surprise people with a Commander figure. That being said, I like the evolution of the character, and I think it'd be awesome if they went full on cult mode in the next one with him donning the hood and everything.

I'd rather have a cool dude in a mask and trenchcoat that took out the worlds nukes at once rather than an old Bruce Willis with high cholesterol.

If they wanted to do an old Willis, they should have picked up Red or Die Hard Mother Russia. Otherwise he'll come in a Cobra Secret Service suit or a t-shirt and cargo pants

Plus, I i'd rather have squeaky voice Cobra Commander then silly Vader S&M Commander. I really did not like that character in the film. Total waste of a cool character.
