The Mummy films are awesome. Good fun. Thats all I wanted. Hopefully this will be FUN too. Thats all it needs to be. Fun. Fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun FUN!

I want it to be good and to respect the source material.

So far, it ain't either.

There are things that work in Live Action, and there are things that dont. Transformers, as the show, would be STUPID in Live action. Thankfully they didnt follow it a 100%.

The problem with GI Joe is that by everything they've shown us the picked almost all the wrong things to change. Eliminate "Yo Joe!" and infantry men flying F-14's? Sure. No problem. Eliminate cool military uniforms and replace them with flying Joel Schumacher power ranger suits? Lame.

Eh. I have no issue with them. I can understand the whole international thing, you DO need to figure out how to market right....

I have no issues with the costumes....its just armor. Thats probably what a futuristic super team would wear.

Sure they had to change some things to make the transition to real life a bit easier... the problem is.. they have done nothing but crapola to a awesome franchise!

Hisstank.com is reporting that this is a genuine pic of a "Cobra Neo Viper" from the upcoming movie:

A cartoon. Things will always change. Im not a fan at all of the cartoon...so I guess thats why I MIGHT enjoy this. If it sucks, it sucks because of the script, and directing. Not because they put flames on Cobra Commander. :lol

I am so sick of movies being made with everyone in black suits. Batman-black suits, X-men- black suits. It takes away the character and individuality of the characters. The comic costumes are an expression of their personality and individuality, not to mention the fact that the original costumes are the most recognizable, and so are the most authentic representation of the characters. The 80's action figure looks all look like real military uniforms that are recognizable as military uniforms, yet had individuality, in order to distinguish one character from another immediately. With these black suits, you practically would have no idea who it is from the back. This looks like Starship Troopers.

I am completely on the other side of the coin. I am in favor of general uniformity with variations on the uniforms to accomodate the mutations or powers or equipment. And liking the color black as I do (or, the absence of color might be more correct), makes me cool with all of the movies using the basic black with the minor differences.

Every costume in the X-Men if they used the comic versions, would suck so much it wouldnt be funny. Bright light colors just dont work for movies.

I think if they used comic accurate suits for the X-men movies with the colour darkened and glazed a tad, it would fit for sure..hell it works for Superman Returns.

And lastly, i think this Joe movie looks like another Street Fighter disaster..original uniforms(darkened in the case of certain characters) or this movie is a flop, i think its got that (Michael Bay)Transformers vibe to it as well..i thought that movie was ok initially but now..i can't stand the stupid lines in that movie anymore, government and military scenes were garbage..i would rather watch the old animated movie with cheesy 80's metal music going..at least the first 30mins or so of it.

But the GI Joe outfits are not comic book superhero costumes. They are all based on military gear. They would look fine on the big screen. Far better than silly generic black supersuits.

I agree to an extent and the X-Men movie uniforms also had slight design differences and colored piping to differentiate between the characters.

Wolverine had the tiger stripes with orange/yellow piping

Storm has white piping, Cyclops had blue, Jean Grey had green, Shadowcat had hot pink, Iceman had a pale blue, etc.

It was these sort of things that gave the suits a little more than the typical "black outfit".

This is what disappoints me about the GI Joe movie is that the suits are plain black and lack anything that may have been recognizable to the characters original outfits. At least the X-Men movie uniforms gave a nod to the colors... the Joe outfits could've done the same...maybe some red on Scarlett's uniform...or some tan on Duke's.

I somewhat agree with you on X-Men...

but most of the Joes (especially the early ones) wore earth tones and muted colors.

Would've been a perfect fit.

Im sure. I like they changed the Cobra's to black, Blue's just too....light for evil terrorists.

Because its a cartoon. Anything works for a cartoon. They could be pink, and i'd work for the cartoon. But once you put it into live action.....

See the Nite Owl costume dude....he made a great accurate comic version of Nite Owl 2....but it looks plain silly. Was that the intent in the comic? Sure, but you have to change things so the general public doesnt find it silly, or stupid.

I was thinking more along the toys, which have been made in blue since 1982 . . .
