Looks like Serpentor's going to be in the movie too!

I can only imagine the horror that will be unleashed upon us when this film is released. My inner GI Joe fan will no doubt curl into a ball and die.

Doesn't matter to me what Hard Master looks like...he just has to play the role of dying (via Zartan) that sets up the intense rivalry between Storm Shadow and Snake-Eyes.

I am curious to see what Zartan looks like though...

Will they show this story in the movie? Probably not....Cause that would be too aWESOME, AND WE KNOW THAT MOVIE IS GONNA SUCK.

Haha...well I assume they'll do SOMETHING since they cast the Hard Master in the movie.

Not to the extent that obviously the main Joes and Cobras are going to look like (or in some cases how they're going to look completely dissimilar :monkey4 ) but in the comic the Hard Master IS deceptively thin and frail-like... Yodaesque in how he comes across. It is the portly Soft Master that's more like this guy (of course the Soft Master has more of a Buddha face--but oh well, you get my point). A little thing-- but again a little thing that to a die-hard fan is another ripple in the pond of septic waste.:monkey3:monkey1

He should be embarrassed, Ill be embarassed when I buy a ticket to this atrocity

I'm now convinced that you are not for real.

Although I admit to SOME joking. I am still of a mind that this movie can be a good movie even if it does step away from the classic RAH look.

After everything is said and done, we will not know until it comes out. If there is one thing that I have learned, it is that costumes very frequently look much different when viewed on the big screen than they do in the pub stills.

You can pretty much tell how well a movie is going to be by how goofy the characters look in costume. Quaid's face tells me, "Ya know, hell, it's better than the unemployment line." The casting of Marlon Wayans reinforces this. Anyone see D&D (like you'd even admit it :lol)? It really amazes me how Hollywood takes on these movies and exploits them as potential fire sale cash cows rather than at least spend some decent effort in getting them done right. Personally, I would've used The Unit as a bible for this license about how a team show can be done well. Sadly from what I'm seeing and reading, I really doubt this movie will be worth the wholesale value of a small bag of popcorn, let alone, the price of a movie ticket. Don't get me wrong. I'll be one of the dedicated to catch the flick on opening night with all the nostalgic curiosity of a G.I. Joe fan. Sadly, my gut tells me I won't be walking away genuinely surprised (like I was with Transformers) but moreso condemning the fact that I just wasted 88 minutes of my life that I'll never get back having paid yet another director to bastardize yet another childhood addiction.

I'll say it again. They could have taken the Kwinn storyline that began way back in Issue #2 of the original comic and turned that into an interesting three movie arc. I was one of those guys who was very upset by what Bay (an admitted non-Transformers fan) was doing with one of my beloved childhood addictions but I too was pleasantly surprised after leaving the theatre. From everything I've seen about this G.I.Joe movie I'm going to have a hard time forcing myself even into a theatre to see it. I absolutely can't stand Marlon Wayans (in ANY movie that he's done so far) and every picture that has come out :horror well, maybe not the Scarlet of Baroness ones:naughty but most have been .

Maybe once the trailer is released I'll get excited for it-- in some way shape or form, but as of right now I'm so far away from being optimistic that I highly doubt anything is going to get me interested in this "adaptation".

I'll be curious to see the movie adaption. I used to watch the cartoon, had the complete toy and comic collection in my pre-marriage / kids days. I since sold the collection and haven't kept up with the new Joe toons, comics or toys.

IMO:
The problem with a Joe movie is the large base of potential characters. Everyone will be disappointed if their favorite character isn't portrayed and by the board's reaction how their favorite character is portrayed. Pulling off a successful adaption of a beloved franchise will be difficult. The story encompasses too many of the characters the movie will lack direction and flop. It is best to focus on a few main characters with a solid story and take the heat from the masses about their favorite character being excluded.

I am far less in the know about Joe current events and movie info than most in this section but I won't judge the movie from early promo shots. Why any movie puts those out is beyond me. Based on board responses from people more informed, I'll have modest expectations so I won't be too surprised either way. :peace

Well Fox did a great job with X-Men, despite the fact that they didn't start at the very beginning, axed fan faves like Angel, Ice-Man and The Beast (we're talking the 1st movie) and kinda re-wrote the canon.... AND IT WORKED! Again, I'll reference CBS' The Unit where they have a military team with several members (let's throw the wives in there as well) where the pacing is well done and they generally wrap a great story in around 47 minutes. So it can be done. But after checking out the site again last night, and really trying to be objective, I just kept seeing more Street Fighter The Movie and less anything with potential :rotfl. I'm wondering if we'll even see a major theatrical release or if, at the last minute, this'll become a Blockbuster Exclusive.
