i have most of them but they are in storage at the moment...

several versions of storm shadow's figure included guns...

versions 7-13 and 26...

as well as both of the 12 inch versions of the character released to date..

The character of Storm Shadow IrishJedi and I are talking about is the character from the original canon Marvel/Real American Hero line from 1982-1994. He only used traditional ninja weapons outside of 'Nam. The Storm Shadows you're referencing (versions 7 and higher) are from the fan-fic Image/Devil's Due era.

I still have most of the comics (and all of them in digital format). I'll dig through 'em and see if I can find it...

On another note, does Baroness' lack of an accent in the movie bother anyone else as much as me? Sienna Miller is a looker, but she has about as much talent as a frog on a dry log. And those boobs aren't even hers. She, too, is worthless.

Agreed... Baroness' lack of an accent is bothersome. I'm just glad they haven't bastardized Major Bludd--- He'd be speaking like a Californian surfer or eastern European rather than his Australien accent. :monkey4

Hard for me to be too bothered by the accent, given how bad some of the accents on the cartoon were :lol

What language was Baroness's cartoon accent supposed to represent, anyway? German?

Thanks for the clarifications, fellas. Those are good points, and I can see where you're coming from.

As for the "21st Century Ninja" description, I just mean what a ninja would look like in today's world--not some Metal Gear Solid cyber-ninja.

21st Century Ninjas wind up finding themselves either being highly regarded personal security for the Dali Lama (Steven Hayes) or pummeled into humiliation in the Octagon. In Hayes' case, it's completely practical, but in todays MMA standards, there are far superior methods. Frankly, it's obsolete.

storm shadow is also military...

he received the same army training snake eyes did during nam...

he carried a gun there too...

I'd like to point out that he wasn't running around in Nam in full Ninja regalia either. ;)

no.

he wore a mix of both types of uniforms...
(wrapped wrists just like his ninja garb)

and carried his ninja bow in addition to his rifle.

:lol, his forearms were wrapped to hide the clan tat. But you should already know that. And having a bow? Rambo carried a bow in addition to a rifle, does that make him a Ninja too? :lol Special Forces are allowed to carry whichever weapons they deem necessary for the mission. My initial point was that he's not running around with his ninja mask, gi and two-toed boots on.

Of course the main point is simply that Storm Shadow THE NINJA carrying around and using a rocket launcher is retarded as hell.

But utterly perfect for this train wreck of a movie!

where does it say he renounced modern weapons?

i don't remember that... it that from devils due?

lurppatrolcomic.jpg

No. It was covered in the Marvel/Hama comics at some point. Can't remember the exact issue.

Besides, with the exception of the Vietnam flashbacks you never saw Storm Shadow with any kind of gun in G.I. JOE ARAH.

Kinda late, but I remember this issue (and panel) from memory.

That panel was from issue #26 of the original Marvel Real American Hero series. It was the first issue of the two-part "Origin of Snake Eyes" story arc.
There were three other members of the Long Range Reconnaisance Patrol (LRRP) that Snake -Eyes, Stalker, and Tommy Arishikage were part of, one of whom would later go on to be a Crimson Guardsman (Wade Wilson).

I remember this issue because Snake-Eyes was my favorite character, and this was one of the two issues in the entire series that Larry Hama pencilled (the other being issue #21, "Silent Interlude"). Still love that panel featuring Stalker and his modified M16.

we know where that panel is from...

but the question was whether or not it was ever specifically stated that he refused to use modern weapons after Nam...

So since that image doesn't really work to further your point, how's about showing us a pic of him from the Marvel run, in full ninja garb, shooting a gun? :huh

my point is that it's not an either or thing... ninja or commando...

that crap is from the devil's due fanfics...

a ninja is not necessarily sworn to only use ancient weapons...

so far no one has been able to cite a specific issue where stormshadow says that he no longer will use guns...

several of his figures come with guns and we know that as a soldier he's proficient in their use...

i still think it's idiotic for him to be the one firing the rocket launcher in the dumbass movie... cobra has guys like scrapiron who are specialists in that sort of thing...

This I agree with. :lol Hell, they could've had Destro fire it personally to showcase the weapon he likely made. As for Storm Shadow saying he never uses guns, I think the fact that there really isn't any Marvel material showing him doing so is a fairly good argument. Hell, you even back that theory with the bolded part of the quote. Why would SS need to? CC has plenty of heels who are more than capable.

I also love how SS in the movie does that idiotic Hollywood freefall bicycle kick as he's falling from the building. Stuntmen in good movies stopped doing that *years* ago.

Not sure whether all the comics in the comic 2 pack releases were Marvel or both Marvel and Devil's Due but the one where Storm Shadow goes after Firefly in his warehouse has him using a Micro-Uzi or a Mac.I'm surpised it hasn't been mentioned yet.
