Haven't seen it. I want to say he's in the same wave as the shirtless Storm Shadow or the one after and I haven't seen that pos yet either.

I just preordered it online, with my luck I probably wont find it in stores. All this time I never even found a ROC SE with Timber.

Really? I could walk into any of the Walmarts Targets or my TRU and literally buy the entire series. I noticed that a few of the places seemed to be out of the basic Snake Eyes and the masked SS around the time the movie came out, but that's been about it. None of that crap is moving here.

The City Strike Snake Eyes is starting to pop up in stores as well as the rest of wave 5 according to some sites. I haven't found him yet but I'm looking. Can't wait for the Resolute DVD to hit store in Nov.

I picked up the DVD yesterday during my crazy dvd/bd Joe haul. For bonus features, they included the original SDCC short of Snake Eyes single-handedly taking down a platoon of Cobra troopers, much to Duke and Roadblock's amazement. "We have a ninja??"

There's also a 20-minute interview with the producers and Hasbro employees, responding to letters from fans and explaining some of their more controversial decisions (Storm Shadow's honorless personality and Dialtone becoming female were two biggies). You can tell these guys really poured their hearts into this, and acknowledge the entire project was specifically a thank you note to older, die hard fans. They always meant this to be an adult endeavor, and wish they could have made a full series out of it.

One thing I noticed on this DVD that wasn't on my DVR'd version from Adult Swim broadcast:
after the credits roll in the film, there's a quick pan of Storm Shadow's grave...and he definitely isn't in there anymore. ::cue ominous music:: :D

I'm really bummed they didn't put this out on blu ray. I watched the entire dvd, then put on my Rise of Cobra BD and saw a commercial for Resolute...in pure HD. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! :sigh: The dvd was downright grainy in certain scenes, particularly noticeable when Snake Eyes dives out of the plane. The dvd version had a lot of artifacting and gradient issues. The same shot in the ROC blu ray commercial was super crisp and beautiful. I'm a recent blu ray convert, so this sort of thing is very blatant to me. Your milage may vary, but there's no denying this could have been a sick BD.

The GI JOE license as with any other pop culture/toy license is subject to reimaging, retcons, revision, reinterpretation, alternate reality, reboot, etc.

With that said . . .

With most of us being "old school" fans . . . how much "retconning, reboot, reinterpretation, etc." can we take before we simply say . . . "BOLLOCKS!" (or BULL$%^&!).

I know that the powers that be have this mentality of appealing to the masses and not necessarily us "old school" fans. GI JOE RESOLUTE I agree was a nod to us old timers with embelishments, but still.

WHEN are we actually going to have a decent and worthwhile continuity where it actually is plausible or is plausibility a moot point?

OK . . .
sorry for the rant/vent.

OH and for the record . . . I WILL NOT BE BUYING GI JOE ROC DVD. I refuse to pay for a DVD that is a rape of a cherished and fond childhood memory and toy. Then again . . . I did buy the DVD for TRANSFORMERS and TRANSFORMERS 2 . . . so I guess that make me a hypocrite?

:duh

While the cartoons were fun and made us play with our toys, nostalgia aside, there's a definite age cap there. Check out the Marvel Comics run (now being published in TPB by IDW). Great Joe stories and a plausible continuity started there, and IMHO, died there.
