You guys are silly... I want more, more, MORE of these!

Well....

Destro and Baroness are still alive. Plus we don't *really* know what happened to Cobra Commander....

So there could be more. I just wish it was 100% classic 80's ARAH as far as the designs of all characters and vehicles but with Resolute intensity and action.

Just finished the finale and it was sort of a letdown. I was expecting a spectacular battle to end all battles but it was just a small Joe strike team to obliterate Springfield. I was also expecting and hoping for a physical confrontation between Duke and Cobra Commander and it didn't happen. Overall though Wow! what an awesome ride this was! One thing I did notice though that has me hopeful that indeed more resolute is coming, the footage that we were shown at SDCC last year wasn't shown. Of course there's always the possibility that the scene we saw was cut or that it was just test footage but nonetheless I will remain hopeful.

I was not too happy in the end.
I mean, I just loved seeing a GI Joe cartoon again, but...

Spoilers: Don't continue reading if you have not watched it yet!

Firstly, they freaking killed everyone....The entire cast of characters went to the same Sharpshooting school for the blind...AGAIN, and what the hell is the deal with Hasbro making Scarlett HAVE TO FALL FOR THE BLONDE HAIRED, BLUE EYED LEADER - AGAIN!??
The comic book worked with the Snake-Eyes relationship...Why, change it...AGAIN!?

To recap:
Bludd - DEAD
Zartan - DEAD
Strom Shadow - DEAD (?!?!?!?!?)
Bazooka - DEAD
A few Unnamed Joes - DEAD (Finally!!!)
Duke - Recovered from bullet wound to the ribs pretty quickly.
Ripcord - Looked like they made him a black guy to me. (Wayans)
Dial Tone - A Young Girl (!?!??!?!)

....and Springfield was freakin' annihilated!?!?!? What is left but to start from scratch for CC.....Baroness and Destro were captured.

I don't know.
I just don't know.

The show recognized the history between Scarlett and Snake-Eyes. And Duke did too, that's why he made her choose. Yeah she ended up with the "blonde" but I'm fine with that. Snake-Eyes has always been a tragic hero for me and the show reinforced that, especially since SE ended up saving Duke and Scarlett's lives at the end.

I see this show as more of a transitional story like the 1986 Transformers movie. Kill off half the old guard to make way for the new. Bring on Serpentor and Cobra-La Resolute! :rock :monkey3 ;)

Yeah, I can see that side of it, too. But, for me killing off Storm Shadow and Zartan just begs for trouble. They are too important, especially Storm Shadow.
I just think Larry wrote such incredible stories in the comics....The Cartoon seemed watered down and somewhat predictable.
They just seemed to have rushed it at the end....

At least Firefly is still alive. :)

I LOVED this. Leave it to Warren Ellis to deliver a Joe plot that truly shines. Like many have already said, I too was happy to finally see some death... and for that matter bullets and not laser fire (the blue and red flashes from the Joe and Cobra weapons was still a nice touch). Cobra Commander was outstanding, and the whole subplot with Storm Shadow and Snakeyes was perhaps my favorite part of the entire show.

Also, maybe I'm just late to discover this show, but... is this it? Have we just been left hanging as to what goes down between Joe and Cobra?

They said that it wasn't part of the series. It was just an example of what to expect. So it was a self contained clip.

Zartan got peaced out so quick, you think it would have been a bit more dramatic. Why couldn't they have killed off one of the minor cobra villians instead? IMo, SS is dead too.

The one thing I did like, they made CC less of a "coward".

I liked the tone and style of the show but I hated the way a lot of the characters were treated especially Stormshadow and Zartan. They gave you no reason to like either of them and made them both one diminsional in the comics you had sympathy for Stormshadow cause he was framed for his uncles death not the one who requested it. As for Zartan we could respect him in the orginal comics cause he was a straight up mercenary hired to get a job done not a psychopath that just wants to kill. I may have been abel to accept that if they had played it like his orginal file card where he was a Paranoid Schizophrenic and had Multiple Personality Disorder but they show no signs of that in what we got of Resolute.

As for the Joe's having Snake-Eyes comming to the Arashikage clan as an orphan sounds to much like the crap in the Live movie or the Sigma 6 cartoon. I always perfered him having the Commando background and then going to train as a Ninja cause of how close he already was to being one. The whole Scarlett & Duke thing didn't set well with me either I always liked the connection between her and Snake-Eyes in the Comics and the paring of her and Duke in the 80's cartoon and now in Resolute just doesn't seem right. We also get no context for the relationship with her and Snake-Eyes since the story of him being shot by Zartan undid the one of him loosing his voice to saving her when the Joe team was first formed. I also felt the Joes got off a little light in the casualty department compared to Cobra only loosing bazooka and whatever unnamed joe staff got caught up in the destruction of the Flagg.

Anyway in General I liked the tone and feel of most the show but it was lacking the feel of certain characters. While Cobra Commander was great and Destro finally sounds more like a scotsman while still matching his look alot of the others we either didn't get enough of or were way off like the ones mentioned in my rant above. Resolute does show a good G.I. JOE series can be done but needs to stick with the personalities and backgrounds we loved from the orginal Comics and File cards we read growing up.

That's my 2 cents on the show and sorry for being so long-winded.

I wish Destro sounded like a big Vader-lite brotha instead of Shawn Connery.

well technically snake eyes did come to the Arashikage clan as an orphan... his parents had just died in a car accident...

but i agree that i didn't like the revision of the snake eyes origin story...

the way they did it was really cool (except for the fact that they stole some of it from Kill Bill) but i would have preferred the canonical comic book origin...

i also wish zartan was presented more like the comic book...

it seems though that resolute was intended as more of a grown up sequel to the cartoon series (with occassional nods of recognition to the comic)...

It leaned way more toward the cartoon characterizations and continuity than it did the comic...

like for instance the duke/scarlet relationship... Cobra commander's reference to his previous clueless behavior... the characterizations of zartan, destro and baroness... snake eyes/storm shadow origin... all of those bear very little resemblance to the comic book...

overall i thought it was pretty awesome... and would have been thrilled if this was the live action movie we got...

Watched all of it in one go, it was fun, good action and animation. Story and characters were almost severely lacking though, not very well written....Hopefully there will be a full show in the Resolute style though, that picks up from day 1 and pays tribute to the comic instead of the cartoon.

That is indeed my hope as well!!

Well, he IS Scottish, after all. I was pleased that they paid attention to that detail, as a fellow Scotsman.

I know but the voice of a big black guy is permanently associated with the image of the character. Imagine if Vader sounded like a white guy. He'd sound like a wimp.
