Yeah, but it is still surprising. The rumors were that this had Paramount's lowest test screening score on record, but apart from that, the director sucked in everything he previously did, the actors don't seem very good, and it just looks very cheesy overall. If it can overcome all that and people can still have a good time, then that is quite an accomplishment.Not one of those are true fans of the Franchise!

The buzz has been pretty positive, except for fanboys. I doubt too many reviewers are going to be slavishly devoted to the franchise.

Perhaps not, but considering the negative heat this movie has been receiving, more-so than even Jar Jar Binks or when we got a look at Michael Bay's group Transformer designs for the first flick, it has me surprised that even 11 out of 12 reviews are positive. Now that's not to say that will continue. I could see it drop to around 50-60%, but it's funny to see regardless. I was expecting to see 15-20% on the tomatometer.
Then again, not everyone is an anal fanboy. They take the movie for what it is. If it's a fun ride, it will receive decent to good praise. This could very well be a fun Summer flick regardless of how true it is to the old G.I.JOE cartoons we grew up with.

Dave is right. Even CNN and IGN said it was entertaining. I plan on seeing it at some point.

You know, I was going to post that. You are so right! 100 percent right! Why is it okay for G.I.JOE to get away with mindless fun, but not Transformers: Return of the Fallen? I thought it was GREAT mindless fun!
What really surprises me is that, so far, this movie is being praised for being a "mindless popcorn flick" which is exactly what brought down the reviews for ROTF.
You know, I was going to post that. You are so right! 100 percent right! Why is it okay for G.I.JOE to get away with mindless fun, but not Transformers: Return of the Fallen? I thought it was GREAT mindless fun!

I am even intrigued to see it after seeing snippets and now these positive reviews. Just debating if I should hold out for the cheap seats though as I want to go to the lake a lot for my last month of Summer before film school starts, and stress city comes into fruition!

The fact that Paramount is blocking screenings from critics before it's release means they know they've got a stinker on their hands just like Transformers and want all the money they can before word hits the street.
