I'm happy enough with NECA '54, but, Sakai mentioned '54 and '84 as wants for SHMA in an interview last year and I'm really crossing fingers to see '84 sometime this year from SHMA, NECA let me down there and you can't beat Sakai, hopefully it translates well into a figure.

GMK suit is definitely one of the best designs, I feel like some of the best suits are the ones used in a single movie only, '54, '64, '84, 2001.

It's amazing how badass this figure can look sitting on a bathroom sink :lol

Congrats on the piece. That's one hell of a G

I think Neca got the bulk a little more accurate than SHMA, but that's nothing new with them. SHMA has always made their kaiju a little lean. I definitely love the head on this one over the Neca.

It does go to show how good Neca did with their sculpt though.

Yeah and this guy takes slight liberties that make the design look better than the suit. It's not as chunky and rubbery looking. The pose is a shelf hog but it's different. I have to display him with his tail poking out a bit.

The 90s and later suit figures from SHMA translate ok to my eyes, but '64 and now the '54 seems to suffer from odd proportions once they add the articulation, but they're taking a Sakai model sculpt essentially and modifying it into a figure and his work is so dead on that once you take liberties to add joints, things can get lost.

I agree the head on SHMA is best, particularly the teeth, the teeth are an area NECA fell a little short on with '54, and I prefer the side eyes to NECA's forward ones, though both are film accurate depending on which images you look at.

SHMA '54, definitely Sakai work, very impressive , but overall, for filling the collection void of an articulated '54, I'm still quite happy with my NECA.

I actually don't like how defined the skin texture is, it seems out of proportion to the size of the figure, like this should be on a 10-12" piece.

SO ORDERED!

This was my display.

Yesterday I found the 10" BC vinyl 2014 at TRU yesterday, so my updated 2014 collection.

That's my most treasured Godzilla in my entire collection, Kaiyodo 8" '84, sculpted by Sakai. Odds are, if SHMA does '84 it'll look damn close to that.

If you find something, do share, I've wanted one for my '54 and '84 displays, but haven't seen anything good enough in small size.
