Stop obsessing over the numbers Jye. Instead go buy your kid more Godzilla toys :lol

Whatever I buy him ends up in my collection anyways lol

Well perhaps if you'd squeezed that 2nd viewing in over the weekend instead of just considering doing it.

:gah:

I bought two Imax tickets. My friend flaked out on me and didn’t show. I did not refund the second ticket because all proceeds go to Godzilla.

What have you done for this movie, Jye!?

:lol

I’m going again after my 5th EG viewing.

:chase

GKOM only made 49 million? I guess AEG's latter weekend box office competition isn't as stiff as once thought, muahahahaha, lol.

EG sneezed and 49 million came out lol

49 million is a pretty poor opening- this may not even get near $80-90 million domestic...

Here is how I feel about the box office.. It's too bad its not doing better. I would love for it to be a huge success and guarantee many more movies.

But in the end I am thankful for what we got. A pretty freaking great Big Budget American Godzilla film..

I remember going to see Godzilla 98 in the theaters and the massive disappointment it was.. Even knowing who was directing and producing it and what Godzilla looked like I still hoped to see a "Godzilla film" After it was over I gave up all hope for any future American Godzilla films. I really figured it was all over. Godzilla 1998 was the most disappointing theater going experience of my life. It was like my fav pet dog died.

G14 was a huge step in the right direction and I think GE had some great ideas as far as scale goes but ultimately missed much of what we love about Godzilla.

Say what you want about the new film and its human characters and plot but we got a Great version of Godzilla in a pretty great Godzilla film.

Was it perfect.. Nope.. Is any Godzilla movie.. Nope.

I will always love what Monster action we got but always wish there was more.

But I will take the cutaways from Godzilla fighting to human drama in exchange for a Great rendition of Godzilla.. And we got that...

This Godzilla might be my fav incarnation of the creature ever put on screen. Only G64 has a chance at beating him.

So while it sucks that there may only be one more film (If that) I can at least be happy that we finally got a 200 million dollar Godzilla film got the Godzilla character and Universe right.

Ending with Godzilla vs. King Kong is going to be fitting. That movie is already shooting so it's too late to cancel, but given how poor KOTM is doing it's really unlikely the franchise is continuing.

But I think that's the perfect way to go out. I'm not sure how they could top Godzilla vs. Kong, hell, I'm not sure that's gonna top the insane blowout here.

Poor box office for a movie you like can be a blessing. It means that sequels can't ever drag it through the mud. I'm glad you'll always have this film and I look forward to seeing it hopefully by next weekend.

What about overseas? Would think it would do great in Asian countries.

Great post and while Godzilla was indeed king we also got a halfway decent Rodan, KG and Mothra.

Those other Kaiju other than the
Spider
were silly though sorry lol

So while EG remains my top dog of the year make no mistake about it I’m super thrilled to own this movie.

I am so curious of what you’re going to think of this movie.

Never judge a film by it's box office, unless of course you're a shareholder.

It does my nut in that fan's seem to obsessed with reviews and financials these days. I miss the halcyon days of my youth when we just enjoyed movies and didn't give a toss what other people thought. Alas those days are long gone, now where's me Ovaltine....
