Saw this yesterday. First off I’m not a fan of going to the theatres. Even when my theatre has huge lazy boy reclining lounge couch chairs (at regular price). I pretty much want it to be over before it starts so I can say I’ve watched it and not have it spoiled. My true movie experience is in the comfort of my own home 60” screen with surround sound and……SUBTILTLES!!!!

I don’t watch trailers as I like to see a movie the first…the first time. I can’t remember the last movie I saw in the threatre’s to which I came out saying “WOW that was ****ing good”. Same can be said about this movie still look forward to purchasing this on blu ray day one!!! (I have a thing for Monster movies)

I’m confused did you like it or not lol

Whats happening to you jye....

Don’t worry i’m certain my enjoyment streak is coming to an end this coming weekend with X-Men lol

I’m actually also going to KOTM again I need a 2nd opinion, my own.

Oh gosh I actually do not agree at all I think the airport scene chanting music was perfect for that slow entrance I was really just referring to actual scale which Gareth was known for being very proficient at due to his VFX background but overall I still prefer KOTM 2nd AND 3rd entrance over 14 airport which says quite a lot because that airport entrance was oh so glorious.

No you’re right. That musical swelling only to drop out for an isolated Godzilla roar is pretty magnificent. Still I want to see an edit with the opening phrase of the Godzilla theme. Have the same swell and drop it just before the roar. It could be quite something.

If only Disney had the rights and tied it into Endgame somehow. It would be close to a billion at the box office already

I think the franchise would benefit greatly if Godzilla was allowed to talk. If the monsters could talk, then humans wouldn't be needed as much.

And before any of you say, "Oh but Kaiju monsters can't talk." They talk in the Power Rangers, and those are made and produced by the same OG Kaiju companies.

Man Aladdin on its 2nd weekend almost beat Godzilla.

No surprise, Disney reaches a far larger audience than Godzilla, new kids, parents who loved the cartoon. I don't know if Godzilla even really appeals to kids or if it's mainly those of us who are already fans and a few select kids in families that love Godzilla. Plus, word of mouth may have gotten around about the language, even though somewhat minimal and subtle, it's still there and could be off putting to parents.

I don't care what the opening weekend numbers are, I'm not going to sit around panicking as to the box office of this movie, I'm going to enjoy it, enjoy any hype around it and look forward to the next chapter, even if it's likely to be the last.

Better yet, make it a musical, Godzilla can Sing "it's not easy being mean and green".

I'm 100% serious. Is there a reason Godzilla or King Kong can't talk? It works in Planet of Apes. King Kong is can just be a bigger version of Cesar. Am I supposed to believe that giant radioactive monsters with powers talking is too much? Talking is like the least impressive thing they're capable of doing.

If they can talk then they can drama, politics, religion, fashion, ethics, literature, art, etc.....in essence be more human. Why would you want that?

I don't get the desire to re-invent the franchise. Godzilla doesn't speak, the monsters don't speak. The movies are about some event taking place that leads to a particular set of monsters facing off and man dealing with that event.

Like I said before, the main different here is that, where Toho would give you a couple minutes of pure monster fighting in between the human reaction, US studios are taking an approach of having the humans right within it so that the screen time is bouncing between subjects.

You don't need to make the monsters talk to adjust this, nor to make an interesting movie. For example, King of the Monsters could have been just as effective if all the humans were in Boston harbor on ships firing rockets and such in at Ghidorah and Rodan, cutting back and forth between the military on the ships and the monsters fighting in the city, that would follow Toho's typical model.
