To be fair I think that was more to do with the script and the way his character was written. It would have been better to focus more on Cranston and his eccentric character than a generic military man with his emotions in check. But I guess Hollywood just prefers younger talent to take up the main role.

ATJ was great in Nocturnal Animals though, even outshining Gyllenhaal I would argue.

I know he could do better. I liked him a lot as kickass too. But he just seemed like he was on the spectrum in that role.

To this day I will say those muto were the laziest design I’ve ever seen on a monster in a big budget modern movie. Just paint it black and rip off clover field and call it a day. I hate the whole long feet small body crap that’s in most monster movies today. Movie should of just had Godzilla tbh

I still love the MUTOS and never quite got on board with the Cloverfield comparison. The only similarities I can see is the Gorilla like posture. But the rest of the design is just too different. Even their silhouettes are nothing a like. Its quite literally just the fact it's long arms in front and short legs in back.

It's weird what the human brain does to our perception of things. Don't take that as an insult Wezzy. I'm a victim of it as well.

The only thing I didn't buy into with the MUTOS is that they're terrestrial. They just seem too alien, and they evoke a lot of Gigan aspects for me. But that may just be the red visor. Maybe it will be revealed (retconned) in the new movie that they are in fact from space and came to earth long ago. Which I'm down with. Ghidorah is supposed to be from space in this version right? Let's get weird!

Wait wut 20 min less of what...Kaiju fighting?

Are you mad the movie barely had any and when it happened it was all in the dark lol

20 minutes less of KONG SI....Not Godzilla....

Even tho I hate GINO14, I actually like MUTOs.
They feel like a cool amalgamnation of different Godzilla monsters.

IKR? They're too alien looking.
Plus it'd explain their relation to Godzilla. Watanabe's theory is just dumb as ****.

It could have been worse. The designs were super simple, yeah, buy at least they were not horrible

This might be one of the lamest monster movies ive ever seen. It was ridiculous how they handle godzilla. It was insulting actually
The way they kept cutting away was ridiculous.

Cloverfield never showed the monster that much but that movie handle it soooo much better.... . That movie did it so much better.

And cloverfield IS a monster movie done from the humans point of view,
Yet they handle the suspense and the reveal so much better.... they do so much better at using the monster.

I think godzilla 14 might be one of the worst monster movies

Hm yea true. I guess they aren’t similar. I just don’t like the design lol. I just think they could of made a better design for a monster it looks lazy imo. The eyes are clearly inspired by gigan I think which is cool but everything else looks lackluster

Who?

They better bring back Quicksilver or his career is done lol

G14 has one of the best Godzilla reveals in the entire Godzilla series.

It did and I agree with you. While g14 is t a bad movie it’s disappointing that the king of the monsters was barely seen and the fight was in the dark. Why would anyone think that’s a good idea to have a big fight in the dark. And just skip fights ? It was bizarre.

Some people think the splitting of Legendary and WB happening around the time of Godzilla’s home release led to a lackluster effort in the transfer.

Huh.
Surprised folks disliked it so much.

Worse Monster movie ever made might be a stretch.....

I mean Rampage was just made..

To be fair, the finale was much brighter on a big screen.
I have no idea why they darkened it so much for the home release.

Hm I don’t remember. But yea looking st it now on YouTube it’s very dark

Rampage is a masterpiece of giant monsters genre in comparison to GINO14. :dunno

I do remember my screening very vividly (pun intended).
It def wasn't even close to being as dark as AvPR. :lol

It's very odd. Having the Mutos be invaders rather than the natural enemy of Godzilla would be better I think.

I hear ya. I get why people don't. I like it because of it's simplicity, It's not overabundant in design aesthetics like a lot of creature designs these days where it's just messy and annoying. I dig it.

Oddly, I think there was a difference if you bought the 3D version of the bluray...I remember reading that the transfer on that one was lighter and more visible. I can't remember if it's true or not.

Plus their design is in contrast to GINO's realistic-like prehistoric animal look.

A monster movie without the monster action....
We have to spend two boring hours following the kick *** guy having the charisma of a wet napkin.....
Director felt the best way to handle this movie was to bait people for 2 hours....

Yeah i will say a monster movie with no monster scenes in it counts as the worst movie.
Even at least rampage delivers on the monsters.

Even kong at least delivers on it... u get what u paid for. Watching gino14 i felt robbed.
Felt deceived.
