Anyone want to guess what Jye and Maul's final ratings will be?

Maul - 4.5 out of 5 - 1/2 a point extra given because he gets to see this one in the theaters :lol
Jye - 2.5 out of 5 - Jye just cant get by the dumb plot and annoying characters (Though that did not stop him with TLJ :lol)

Fav Critic quote so far

"Michael Dougherty's Godzilla 2 swells with too many boring human characters, competently sets up some sequels, thrives solely on its (sometimes awe-inspiring) monster fights and makes no sense. So basically: pretty good Godzilla movie!"

:lol

The one critique I was fearing. But what can we do...Godzilla and monsters can’t talk so yeah the human drama has to ruin it

Just got back from seeing this, it’s not gonna win any oscars but as a G-fan this gave me everything I wanted, hardcore fans will find more to enjoy about it than casual fans due to a lot of references and tributes.

So Thanos and the House of Mouse have nothing to worry about :lol

Just got back
It's good, I'm not really bothered by the human story, and the people who found it hard to follow must have some serious problems. If anyone is worried about being too dark (in terms of lighting), it's fine. Many reviews were comparing it to that one recent episode of Game Of Thrones saying it's as hard to see as that, and it's definitely not true, there's never a moment where it even gets close to that.
It's not the best movie ever, but I enjoyed it more than Endgame.

I have more spoilery stuff to talk about but I'll wait until after more people have seen it.

People underestimated Jurassic world and the beat the first avengers and the second avenger movie. That had a big monster fight in it. Who knows. Maybe the GA is slowly moving towards dinosaurs and big monster fights again.

As a long time fan of these monsters and this franchise, there were so many cool moments I couldn’t even take them all in, the pacing was so well done that by the time I could take in one cool moment, it seemed like three more had happened.

I didn’t check out every review, but some of the negative ones, I was scratching my head wondering what they even watched, I was keeping my mind open for some things and they never happened, and that was a good thing.

The humans were significantly better overall than 2014, and I’d say on par with Skull Island, but remember, unlike Alien or other creature films where the monster is a plot device moving the humans forward, here humans are the device moving the monsters forward. As I suspected, most of the silly dialogue you worry about from ads comes and goes and isn’t representative of overall dialogue and soldiers play far less a front and center role than led to believe, Monarch takes the center stage for characters and most of the humor works good for levity.

The human story is straight forward and enjoyable enough to not make me feel rushed to get to monsters and I found the balance of monster and human scenes well distributed. There are some areas where additional drama could have been worked in, but not doing so doesn’t ruin things, just a few moments where you can definitely feel like “if they added this” it would have been that much more amazing.

Monsters were amazing, I walked away wanting a solo Rodan movie, he could have been used more but when he was it was amazing, Mothra was as probably the best representation as a character that I’ve ever seen, where Toho Mothra could never do too much in fights, this one can hold her own and is very cunning while also still being that elegant peacekeeper she’s always been. Ghidorah was amazing to see fully in action and not limited by automation. Godzilla was given a number of great moments to show more personality to him the likes of Kong, and some stunning shots.

The fights feel a bit more like a Marvel movie than a monster movie, but to me it just makes them different, not bad or worse, definitely a different cinematography style from 2014.

Definitely one to see multiple times to take it all in and I can’t wait for Saturday for round 2. Definitely a movie that will hold up through repeat viewings for me, and pushes 2014 out of my top 5, but as much as I enjoyed it, it’s not enough to steal the #1 slot from Gojira.

And how about Millie Brown, ready for the big screen or should she stick to Netflix :lol

Awesome!!!

So Maul.. Some reviews are actually saying that Godzilla is not in the film all that much or that even though there are lots of monsters its does not give enough monster action.. This flies in the face of what many others are saying..

How much screen time would you guess that the monsters take up?

And how about Millie Brown, ready for the big screen or should she stick to Netflix :lol

I’ve never watched Stranger Things, but her role isn’t one I’d say offers a chance to measure one’s acting abilities, but she works, she feels genuine and serves her purpose.

Awesome!!!

I couldn’t guess clock time for monsters, personally, I would say the feeling of “not enough” stems more from how well they were all handled, they made me want more with how well they were handled but I didn’t come away feeling shortchanged. I would say screen time is on par with any other Godzilla film. Being a US production.

The new monster designs are cool and I hope to see them in GvK.

Millie Bobby Brown did a fine job, there's not a whole lot to the character but I think she acted just fine.

Overall monster action is much more than 2014, Godzilla definitely has more than before

I think Mothra got less screentime than I would have liked though, you really only get to see her clearly in the final battle and she doesn't last that long
