While I like the way the idea of the show they're gonna make, even though I don't how they're going to do it either, a show about Gordon in Batman's early years would be pretty awesome, the idea of Gordon and his men just walking into a crime scene to find out all the baddies tied up together and then they look up and see only a shadow of something watching over them (cof*Batman*coff) would be nerdtastic.

There's a part of me that is very worried about this, but there's another part of me that thinks that, if done right, this could be an incredible show. In a perfect world, the show would be something like this:
-James Gordon is a detective struggling to do his job in a city where corruption runs rampant throughout the police department.
-Alfred Pennyworth is trying to find a way to take care of an emotionally unstable child after the deaths of his parents.
-Bruce Wayne is constantly trying to readjust to life after suffering severe mental and emotional trauma.
-Selina Kyle is a young, Holly Robinson-esque prostitute struggling with her identity as the (potentially) illegitimate daughter of a Gotham Crime boss (Carmine Falcone).
-Edward Nashton could be an up and coming tech-wizard whose ego starts to outweigh his genius.
-I wouldn't want to go to far with the whole Devito interpretation, but, perhaps, to a lesser extent, Oswald Cobblepot's physical attributes make him a target of abuse and we see that sort of forge him into the ruthless, power hungry, underworld boss that he eventually becomes, maybe biding his time and working within Gotham's underworld.

The only one I worry about is The Joker, as his ambiguity is part of his appeal.

Sounds like Gotham High :lol I like it

Imo the Joker should not appear on this until the very end.

No, I mean, individual stories that occasionally intersect (I.e. Gordon encountering Selina at the precinct as she's incarcerated on a prostitution wrap). Perhaps, you could take some creative liberties and have The Riddler, and, if they did it, the Scarecrow attending Gotham University. Not full fledged roommates, or anything, but, perhaps, you have a cybercrimes unit investigating a series of robberies, while you see Nashton, elsewhere, using it to fund his projects, and, maybe, have a string of missing persons showing up with strong hallucinogens in their systems as Crane's "studies." I don't know, I just think it could have the potential for a high drama, solid show featuring Batman characters. Hell, how cool would it be if, once a week, Alfred was taking Bruce to see a Dr. Hugo Strange?

Would be cool to get something dark and gritty amc style but it Will probably be all flash and family drama like ARROW (wich i dig) or Bones or all those procedural flashy stuff.

They said it's possible we'll be skipping ahead years at a time.

I don't think we're going to see little Bruce Wayne vs little Joker. :lol

..at least I hope not.. :thud:

+1 great post.

He just denied it on twitter. I kind of like Logue, but he didn’t fit the part in my opinion.

That's true, I just thought it was a good omen that they aren't going to have Jim Gordon as some twenty something pretty boy. Hell, if I had my way, I'd say give it to Bryan Cranston. :lol

He would be the perfect choice. I’m with you, I hope they don’t get some eye candy with no talent to pull in the teenage girls.

^ I still enjoy that vid....:lol well done

Cranston would be great, maybe a bit too old for the era they are working in....:dunno
I'm pumped for this show though - really hope it's well done.

That's what I thought, as well, but I just figured they could always take some creative liberties; the "Commissioner" is about 65-70 (hence, white/grey hair), so, perhaps, if they followed it from Year One, with Gordon already being an established Chicago cop who winds up a Sergeant in the GCPD. I'd just love a series that explored the ins and outs of Gotham City; maybe show Harvey Bullock as a younger, tough, but honest beat cop trying to stay straight while others constantly try to buy him.

Watch Year One if you want to see a good movie about young Jim Gordon played by Bryan Cranston. This show won't come close to touching that. The CW are the people who think Vampire Diaries and Gilmore Girls and One Tree Hill are the pinnacle of television.

:lol That's right Fox got it. The folks who canceled Family Guy, Arrested Development, and Firefly.
