The thrawn Trilogy is what got ALOT of people back into star wars, and proved to Lucas that there was still money to be made.

Without the thrawn trilogy, we would not have the prequel trilogy, the special editions, or ANY of the collectibles we love today.

That is so wrong. It just came out at a time when people were starving for anything Star Wars. If it wasn't Zahn and the Thrawn trilogy, it would have been something else.

It's funny how quickly people forget that Lucas was just biding time before starting the prequels, waiting for special effects to reach a level where he could get his vision across. Zahn's novels were a great bridge for SW fans and they also helped show Lucas that interest was still there, but not what set off the films.

Exactly. It was all about the timing. The Zahn books were just the first thing that came out after the Dark Ages of SW Fandom (1987-1991). People were jonesing.

Now we have the exact opposite problem.

the nice thing about having "the opposite problem" is that there is something for everyone. we should not use our own personal taste as a template... Star Wars is all of ours.

and with that...i just got my notice to say SSC will be charging CCs on monday :)
alas,i wont get my exclusive til AFTER xmas by the time it ships :)

Says the guy who took a dump in the TFU thread.

Just got mine (regular - couldn't justify going all out on the command chair). I'm a little disappointed Sideshow stitched the collar closed. Other than that, he's awesome! :D

again... all i said was that i would prefer a KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC figure before a 2nd UNLEASHED figure...

The only problem I had with Zahn's books is that always, the first 1/3 is a techno-babble snorefest.
^^^QFT.^^^
:lol

Thrawn is a good, memorable character though. I like smart villains that are also into "The Arts".
(Palpy had style, cool office decor and went to the opera, afterall.)

I think if he nixed all the 14 syllable words and lost 25 of the 36 adjectives per sentence, his novels would be harder to put down. Instead, it always seems like I'm being punished, having to force myself into the middle. Once the ball gets rolling, it's fantastic, like you're actually reading a Star Wars movie but getting there is like bamboo chutes under the fingernails.

Bring on Bastilla! :D

I had to cancel my Thrawn for now due to holiday finances. I'll pick him up later on.

I did not pre-order the Thrawn figure but may pick it up if it is available at my local retailer once I see the figure in-hand.

The Exclusive edition with the Chair is cool but the price is out of my league at the moment and while I would love to own that, I simply couldn't afford it currently. So, just the Regular edition figure will do for me right now.

IJ, dont know if you'll see this but something I was wondering and that you might know. When Kenner started in on the Power of the Force 2 line in '95 - how long was that deal in the works? A year, 2 years? More? I know right now Hasbro says a line is planned a full year in advance and I'm curious what the time table was at the start of Kenners run on the modern line.
