I'm tempted to try mushrooms or PCP or something for the first time. Because I have to assume seeing Gravity on one of those would be one hell of an experience.

Heavy Future: Gravity Is Movie Magic At Its Finest

Gravity was stunning and gripping as I had hoped for. I made the 16 hours round trip to Bangalore to see it at PVR IMAX in 3D, not true IMAX but still the best picture quality I have seen.

Sandra Bullock gives a great and endearing performance, while George Clooney is charming as he balances out some of the tension. Plotwise the film is akin to a bottle episode but high on visual spectacle and the short 90 minutes duration of the film helps with its pacing.

Most of the film is CGI blending with live action, which was seamless including some stellar transition between different perspective shots.

Thanks to director Alfonso Cuaron, cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki and the rest of the Gravity cast and crew who have delivered one of the most immersive cinema experiences of 2013.

Saw this over the weelend. Great film. Imax is the way to go. I can do without the 3D though.

Finally saw it!!!
Liked it a lot!!
Great movie and Cuarón as usual, delivers! He's such a gifted Director.
Bullock did an amazing job IMO, and I really liked the ending... Visually it's beautiful, Lubezki doing an amazing job as usual! The FX and CGI are Out of this World! :lol

My only complaint is Clooney... His character pulled me out from the movie... particularly during the
scene where Bullock gives up and he supposedly shows up... that scene kind of ruined the movie for me

But overall, an amazing movie to be watched in theaters and in 3D for sure! :rock

Saw this today and I can't really say why I enjoyed it so much. I think I was able to impose myself into the story which is what, I believe, Cuaron was going for. I think Bullock had just enough back story to give her a reason to come home but mostly she's a blank canvas so that we can insert ourselves into it. If someone didn't like it, it's my guess that they weren't able to immerse themselves in that way. My only complaint is that I never thought I was watching anyone other than Bullock and Clooney. There was nothing really "doctorish" that Bullock did and other than piloting that jetpack, Clooney didn't do anything very "chief astrounaty." Then again, those two names probably made them a lot of money so I guess that comes first. Didn't care for Bullock's botox lips though.

Now that I think about it, the reason Bullock didn't do anything specific to her character description (like busting out some doctor knowledge) and why she's flipping through instruction books and stuff is because we are meant to impose ourselves. They did quite a good job actually

I thought that scene meant SHE was dead. I never thought he was alive because the movie kept telling us that if you drift away an inch, it might as well be a mile. He also didn't reveal anything new to her and I normally hate those type of scenes, but I think they handled it well.

What films do you guys think will rival this? I saw captain phillips and I can't tell which I like more. I think Gravity might be the better film. Tom Hanks might win best actor and Sandra Bullock best actress but I feel like I've forgotten about some of the contenders.

Oh, I know... that's why I hated it... it's too obvious and gratuitous for Alfonso Cuarón... he's usually more subtle when it comes to that kind of thing.

Don't get me wrong, I liked the movie a LOT, but that scene was a bit "meh" in my opinion...

"You called, my son?"

Saw it over the weekend and loved it.
Filmmaking at its finest if you ask me.

My thoughts exactly.

I was initially skeptical, the trailers gave the impression that the movie was gonna be astronauts floating around in space for the entire film.

While they were floating around for a large part of the film the set pieces did change often; also there was more to it, the story was there, the action was there and the emotional was there. It worked out and it ended up being a great film.
