Marvel and Star Wars are too very different collectible animals, nothing Star Wars ever appreciates (vintage figures excluded)!

Nothing? ever?

What about the Vader ANH SE, Luke ROTJ EE, Mace SE just to name
a few MR sabers? and the Sideshow Maul life size bust? Quite a few GG mini busts
go for much more than retail, as do some of the animated maquettes such
as Padme, Obi-wan, Mace, and Ventress.

i agree mesa, i really don't care about what the value today, yesterday, or next year is. i just like them for what they are, i'm 40ish now and i can still recall reading some old spidey, hulk and thor comics when i was much younger. now my son is into it, not because of the comics, but other media such as movies and video games, so it's a real family affair now.

in short wouldn't trade it for the world, especially when i see his face light up when he talks about the latest movie or newest statue i/we have gotten. i think that's the real difference between marvel or dc compared to other lines of statues, it's alot harder for they next generation to relate to lines such as lotr or sw. i hate to say it, and i'm sure there is alot of people that would disagree with this, but marvel/dc will still be here in 50 years, as it has been for the past 50 years (approximate). i don't know if the same could be said for most of the other lines available today.

i guess that wasn't really short, just my 2cents .

ps. i am a lotr collector also, just never got into sw, though i liked the first 3 movies and by the time the last 3 prequels came out couldn't really care anymore. maybe because to much competition for the publics entertainment dollar, maybe?

Ok aside from Vintage there is a handful of other select high end collectibles that have value. But take into consideration the large amount of collectibles we see from star wars then only a very small percentage of star wars collectibles keep their value. So your right, not nothing, ever but a very, very small percentage of star wars stuff keeps it's value.

Its not the PP fees, although they are a lot, its because PP can rip you off with your money and you have no recourse. They are not a real financial institution and dont have the same rules and regs that a bank or credit card would have.

What do u mean rip you off, like how?

Another thing to consider about the SW and Marvel line is that it seems that SW seems to have a MUCH larger market than Marvel. Granted Marvel is becoming MUCH more popular recently, SW has been marketing much more items (which also contributes to the saturation of SW pieces in the market) But the point is, people buy them and just puts more money in the pockets of all the companies making all these SW items (regardless of their after market value)

I hope the hulk pf keeps dropping in price so I could get one. I always wanted one, but just could not get it. I had the chance a while back ago to get it for 400 shipped, but I passed it up:monkey2 Man that was dumb of me:banghead

Ah, the joys of our addiction.... :lol You just never know :D If you love it, buy it if you can

Not sure how accurate this but here is a website that will calculate all your fees when you list, sell on ebay and get paid with Paypal. I plugged in a $1000 BIN sale and the fees for everything (listing, final sale value, and Paypal) was 69.62...

https://home.alltel.net/micrep/fees.html

I usually figure loosing about 15% - 20% if listing on Ebay and using PP. The fees do cut into the bottom line and should be considered in final sale price

I practically have all the fees locked into my brain

Average Ebay/Paypal fees come out to about 8% actually.

Mark your shipping up more to make up some of their fees.

Their fees are not 15%.

To a collector this is good news; for the profiteers not so much. I suppose if you purchased it at $900 in hopes that it would make a mad dash to $1500; and you do not like the piece you're kind of stuck when it goes in reverse. Oh well.

It's a buyers market right now . . . when the economy is booming again and people have money to spend this will climb back up to $1000 . . .

this is a great site, thanks for sharing it. I've bookmarked it.

I honestly thought fees were around the 15% mark, I didn't know they were more like 7%. That makes me feel a little better using Ebay/PP.

I hope to see a drop in the IM and Doom prices as well then...those two are the last ones I'm holding out on, 1500 is just not justified price for me (personal opinion) for these pieces.

Me too . . lol

It's tough when it comes to the real "Grail" pieces like that . . you really see in an economy like this what the true Grail pieces are . . the prices just won't go down . . :monkey2

Sha! Seriously..... It's insane what these pieces go for.... Guess all you can do is wait and see what happens

HOLY ^^^^^, lol, that would of totally sucked but like u said at least you saved some money! I always have mutiple windows and instances of my web browser up and even allocate more memory to the processes (quad core helps out quite a bit) so I know nothing goes wrong last miniute when I'm bidding on eBay stuff but I'm a total sniper when it comes down to the wire on auctions but hey it's how badly you really want it at the end of it all!
