Well, today is the day that the 13" Green Lantern figure from D.C. Direct arrives at your local comic book stores. I will be picking mine up in a couple of hours. Retail on this is $59.99. :ghost

I tried to look at the pictures at DC Direct, and they don't look that great. I hate that DC Direct site. Anyway, I guess you're looking forward to it? Know any place with some great pics of it? I like Green Lantern in general, but I'd like to get a better look at the joints and accessories.

Wow!! Glad I preordered mine. Saved a small fortune it seems. Can't wait for it to arrive.

Got lucky on a vendor pickup and was able to stop by the LCS today. Yeah, they wanted $60 bucks for this. It looked pretty good, the paint was a bit sloppy on the ring, spilling out onto the white gloves, came with a working green lantern, a removable eye mask, and an extra pair of hands. It was a bit too much for me (a little light on the accessories, I thought) but costuming looked pretty good. But he really looked too barrel chested to me. His upper body is a bit too "Arnold" for my tastes. Also, the paint on the hair of the two that I looked at seemed spotty. Also some sloppiness at the paint near the hairline.

I'd bite for $40, but for $60, I'll stick to the SS 12" figures.

Pretty pleased with this one. The body, no surprise, is the same as Superman and all the other DC Direct 13" figures are likely to be so he's only in scale with the rest of the DCD line. Articulation on this body is pretty good, more than adequate for most superheroic posing. Costuming is pretty good with the boots being fabric this time and sewn into the rest of the suit. No fugly zippers on the back. Guess I'm lucky as the paint is fine on the two I picked up. Hal has a determined scowl and some of the other geeks at the comic shop wanted a laughing sneer sorta thing, but it's a nice sculpt which I like better than the Superman figures. The gauntlets tops are vinyl and slip over the costumes sleeves with the hands being seperate interchangeable pieces. Comes with two fists, two open hands. Nifty power battery accessory. The only other item is the dreadful stand like the one that came with Superman. They need to do something better than this. All in all another nice figure from the 13" line and a good companion for Superman. I pre-ordered mine so it was $48. with my discount at my local comic shop. And at that a pretty decent deal. I think sixty bucks is fairly reasonable anyway considering the price of licensed stuff, but it might be pushing it. I'd still recomend the figure though if your a DCU Superhero fan. And if Hal is one of your favorites, it's a must have and I don't think you'll be dissapointed.

$48 is a good price. I agree that the face sculpt was pretty good. Maybe I'll try another comic shop and look for one with better paint. The sloppiness around the ring really bothered me...

I pre-ordered mine some time ago.

I too am a huge DC comics fan and collected many of their comics for about 12 years...

I already have the "Superman" 13" figure and have the 13" "Batman" pre-ordered.

However, I must limit myself with this line as I am collecting both the Sideshow "Star Wars" and "LOTR" 12" lines and intend to get most if not all of those figures.

As for the DC direct line, only my favorite characters will I purchase. I did not pre-order the 13" "Lex Luthor" nor the "Two Face" figures as they do not really interest me.

I would love for them to make a "Wonder Woman", "Flash", "Supergirl", "Catwoman" figures...

I'd like all of these also and practically anything else honestly. I think you'll see WW and Flash next year, or so the rumors go. The only unannounced figure left for this year is supposedly Aquaman. And I'll get him too. I'm a completist. I buy doubles of the ones I'm displaying out of the box like Superman and GL. I'm a pretty big comic geek though.
And Catwoman is available in Cool Girl form. Supposed to be available in August.

True, but have you seen this piece of crap? It looks awful!

I picked mine up at the comicbook store yesterday and the paint application on mine loooked great, no complaints here on that end. For the price point, given the licensing issues, I thought it was well worth the money I paid for it.

Hey, gootta say, I'm not a fan of DC, but I just saw that figure at my local comic shop,He looks great !!!!! The face sculpt looks 10 times better than supes....If I was a fan, I would buy automatically..the price is good also...

Picked mine up yesterday and I love it! The sculpt is really top notch and a big improvement over Superman. Kudos to DC Direct.....too bad they stopped impressing me with their 6" figures.

No fugly zippers on the back.

WHAAA? Just picked him up and mine does have the zippers on the boots, exactly like Supes.

Other than that and the obvious body-size problem, I'm digging this guy. The sculpt is excellent and a great expression. The ring looks good and the battery is bright as hell. Nearly blinded myself with it. I like Supes too, so I have to say that the line is winning me over. I still think it would be far more successful if it was in scale with other 1/6 though.

I was wondering if anyone else has used DCBS? How's their customer service? Are items shipped safely and in good condition? I noticed they're strict about cancelations and returns. I'd appreciate any feedback before I order from them.

I got the DC Direct 13" supes thru them and it was shipped well and came in good condition. They just seem to lag in the shipping area somewhat. I don't know if thats because they do a large volume of busines, or if they do it on the side. Can't beat the prices though.

Thanks, Ironman. I might have to order a couple of things from them. They do have great prices.

I was'nt going to pick this up, but when I saw it in person I did not hesitate. I am quite pleased with this head sculpt. BTW the boots are not sewn into the costume they are seperate. The boots turned out better than expected. My biggest gripe is the god awful neck joint. I prefer SS type necks where the head and neck are one piece. All in all this is the best 13 incher DC direct has offered so far.

Sorry for misleading info on the boots. I'd only looked at the figure in the package at that point. They aren't sewn in, do have zippers which serve even less of a purpose on this figure than on Superman, but still look alot better than that first effort. This is a great looking figure.

I love the neck joint. I think it's important for flying characters to be able to look up and down like GL and Supes can. My only real gripe is the zippers - why not just sew him into the costume since there's no secret identity costume with him?
