I wasn't exactly impressed by Superman #2. I felt like it was more or less a filler issue - like the story for this Superman mini-series was really only a 2 issue story that they had to stretch into 3. Sure Pyscho Pirate messes things up and New Krypton is in trouble, but I really didn't think the whole Supermen fight really added to anything. But I'm looking forward to seeing what Martha can do. I am disapointed Johnathan Kent hasn't shown up yet either.

Also, I'm a bit annoyed Black Lantern Superman is the first Black Lantern figure released when he hasn't even appeared in the main Blackest Night issues. Martian Manhunter should have been first. Heck, anyone BUT Superman should have been first - Aquaman, Firestorm, Elastic Man, the Hawks, etc.

Great ring---
Superman #2 should be great--going to pick it up and then go to the casino with my Dad. Maybe I should wear my BL ring to revive the dead machines.

:lol :lol :lol

"Wheel of Fortune machine of Earth...RISE! And payout, daddy needs a new pair of shoes!" :D

^^^This. I just finished it and while I still think the artwork is flawless I couldn't help but feel the fight is being really drawn out with too much dialog going on.

I don't have a problem with lots of dialog, but only when its productive and revealing to the storyline...which sadly there wasn't much in Superman 2.

3 things:

1. Is Krypto out of it? I remember reading that he had a big part in this.

2. This is the 2nd time we've seen Superman in every color. Given what was revealed in BN issue 3, does anyone think Supes might have a bigger role in defeating the BL's ?

3. We haven't seen Pa yet. Do you think he might appear in issue 3 and save Martha?

I've read that tidbits have been spread all throughout the DC Universe regarding BN...I think it's really cool! :D

It has to do with Johns' research. He came up with the basic idea of Blackest Night but in talking with DC as the artists, they came up with the prophecy originally written by Alan Moore. He started to tie things back to DC History and retconning the past to make it fit. There are a few Booster Gold references:

Booster Gold #1- Ronnie Raymond + X = Firestorm!
Reference to Jason and Ronnie merging together as one Firestorm

Booster Gold #5- The Ghost Detectives have all the answers!
Possibily that Ralph and Sue will appear in their ghost forms to help the heroes against the Black Lanterns? They were the first two Black Lanterns to be killed by Indigo-1 and Indigo-2.

Booster Gold #19- HE is coming back
Reference to Nekron.

Now those obviously weren't written for this specifically back then but Johns has been looking at old source material to try and tie it together.

I had no idea they were tying it into the past sources. That's pretty awesome..
