Yeah, more realistic and got a laugh from just about everyone. Did anyone catch:

the poke at Bale's Batman, when Hal tries to sound all raspy talking to Hal and the poke about someone knowing him his whole life yet not recognizing him by covering his cheekbones?

HAHA Yeah, That part had me :rotfl

Agreed. If they were true to their source material they'd just suck accurately.

Since GL is only projected to do 50-60 mil this weekend, this will be a true test of the people to see if they are willing to give it a shot themselves or if word from fans is enough to get the casual movie goer.

awesome Villain for the Sequel

It's funny how the critics are blastin Reynolds, because personally I don't like him at all...
I hated him as Van Wilder (terrible movie...)
He sucked in Blade Trinity, and Amityville Horror....
Hated him as Deadpool...
but for some reason I liked him as Hal a lot!
He did a fine job IMO...

Just saw the movie. I liked it but wasn't floored by it. Does anyone know who did the narrator voice? What's his name? Is he the same guy who did the narration for Superman Returns?

I think who you mean is Tomar Rai, He was the fish looking lantern and he was voiced by Geoffery Rush, he was Barbosa in the Pirates of the Carrabean films, hes been in alot of stuff.

Its all good. :lol :duff

Mike

what did you think of the soundtrack for GL?

Definately no 89 Batman, BB, Superman or Indy for me.

Soundtracks just suck ass today :monkey2

I've gotten the soundtracks to most of the movies I've seen this year especially. Still need to get X-Men but I will have to say I've enjoyed them all. None of them are LOTR which to me are the best I've heard but like I said I've enjoyed all of them so far.

It was Jeffrey Rush (Tomar-Re's voice). He didn't do SR but he is Barbossa. Strangely enough I thought Tomar Re kind of looked like him at least expression wise.

Mike, what did you think of the soundtrack for GL?

Good not great. There are some good tracks on there but nothing I think that will stick in people's minds. You hear Elfman in your head when you think of Spider-Man or Batman 89. You hear Williams when you think of Star Wars or Jurassic Park or Superman or even Harry Potter.

There isn't anything like that in here but it's not bad.

I returned from the film and I must admit a bit disappointed. After the great start with Thor and XFC, I hoped GL would keep the ball rolling. Unfortunately, IMO it dropped the ball :(

I give it a 7.0 / 10

I don't think it deserves the harsh reviews posted by most critics however, it had certain elements which the reviews were justified. It is a typical 'popcorn' summer film not much else. I found the flow of the film 'hit n miss', the villains weak and Reynolds and Strong were good just not outstanding. The dynamic relationships between Thor, Odin and Loki and again with Erik and Charles were a big factor in my enjoyment of those films. I did not get a strong relationship vibe from any of the GL characters. Whereas Hiddleston (Loki) and Fassbender (Magneto) performances were magnificent in their films, I found no performance in GL to match. The reason I enjoyed Thor and XFC so much was in part do to such strong performances (along with the story). Therefore, the lack of a strong relationship and outstanding performances affects my overall take on the film.

That said, it isn't a horrible movie. Reynolds and Strong were solid, I loved the character designs (energy suits), OA was magnificent, the ending credit scene (two thumbs up) and the story had great potential. Too little focus on Hal learning to become a lantern it just sorta happened. IMO a huge lost opportunity.

I believe a second film will be forthcoming and done right could be really awesome. The character has tons of potential.

Anyway, I loved the character designs and any HT Lanterns or Guardians is an instant purchase. Anyone else pass.....
