honestly, i agree with the 10 out of 10. i hvae played most of the GTA games and this story is the only one that really got me hooked.

and the MP is just sick. i had so much playing team deathmatch tonight with the Freaks.

Yeah... sorry buddy. No way is this 10 out of 10 IMO. Not with all the other games like Drakes and Bioshock not getting said score. Again though, these games are not my cup or tea. I just don't see how you could even hold Zelda Ocarina and this game in the same hand. I think it might just be the content. Not the game play. Again, I know this is a sore subject and will be looked at harshly. I just don't see a perfect game here at all.

Doesn't want to get flamed so I will tread lightly. If you are not a fan of past GTA games there is not much here for you. Although multi player is fun when there is people in cars and such. However, this is still no GOW in my opinion. Why IGN gave it a perfect is beyond me. I had a blast though playing multi with the freaks. I just don't know how much longer it will be fun.

i agree, unless i'm with friends there is no way I'd play it online.

Finally got some time to myself. Kid and wife are asleep, Brewers game is over, finished some late work, I installed it and now... I'm going to bed.

Well I played it for a couple hours tonight and I'm loving it. It's funny because I don't have cable...so I don't watch tv...and what do I do with this game....sit on the bed in the apartment and watch trash tv...I got sucked in to the Male Locker Room chatfest. It was too f'n funny...and the I'm Rich show....OMG I was laughing so hard.....then I realized that I was wasting my time watching crap tv and not playing my game...so I went out and immediately kicked some people's ***** and stole their $$. AHHHHHH...I've missed these games.

I wouldn't say 8.5 for any of those two but I would give them around a 9. I would even give GTA4 a 9. I am just saying it is by no means perfection. What is interesting is I am not alone. Usually on IGN people rate games well above what IGN does. In this case I understand it is impossible to rate a game higher than 10 by their scale. However, the interesting part is their average reader review is about a 9.2. I would agree with that. I just wish they would be consistant with their reviews. Which just goes to show you why you can't go by a review 100% when buying a game.

IMO the best part of the multiplayer was driving in cars and hanging out the window shooting at people. Some of the game modes are just ok like cops and robbers.

I'm really not happy with the melee attacks either. You seem to have to stab someone SEVERAL times before you can kill them so they can just shoot you even if you have stabbed them a couple of times.

The game IS fun and I'm sure I'll like it more as I get used to it, but I still think the story mode is better than the multiplayer at this point.

I couldn't stop laughing hanging out the window shooting people. Purely the best aspect of the game for me.

nothing made me laugh more than taking the copter high over Times Square and bailing out ..

but .. has anyone else had problems joining online games? I can join when someone invites me, but can not randomly join - it just kicks me back to single player mode.

Sounds like you may have a strict NAT. Have you tested your connection?

Server issues. We all were having problems at some point last night. I didn't expect anything less. They are selling tons of copies. Slowdown is expected.

Check out this link. NAT can restrict you from joining some games on Xbox Live. It does effect your performance but not much.
