While watching this film I found myself thinking... "These really are the new Star Wars movies"

Just in character building and friendship. The Will they or wont they love story, the planets and aliens. The Humor. Basically the overall feel... Of course I should say these are the new "A New Hope" films... As they are fun in that way... Nothing too dark like "Empire" in these films and I am OK with that.

Of course I don't like it as much as Star Wars but if I was 8 years old again these films would be a fav of mine for sure.

Well, I don't mind saying I guess (because I hadn't planned it and the MCU is sort of organic - sort of) I like the whole MCU better than Star Wars. Maybe "like" isn't the right word - it's not saying one group of films is better than the other. And I enjoy Star Wars - part of the culture, at this point. Who doesn't instantly recognize Yoda and Darth Vader and Luke and Leia and Han Solo...

I just never took to SW the way I've taken to the MCU. Not sure why - but I don't worry about it. Because I'll end up owning all the MCU and SW films anyway:cool: - waiting on Kylo 1/6 right now, too.:monkey3 Love the idea of one day being able to hunker down and do an immersive binge watch w. all the films.

I'd say Coulson dying in Avengers was the first meaningful death until the tv resurrection. But still, it created the avengers.

Coulson's death tried to be meaninful but for me it wasn't.

I found it to be a weak reason to form the Avengers.

What saving the world isn't a good enough reason.

I am blown away by the fact that Marvel was able to pull off
the emotional punch in this movie with Yondu,
I think Jaws is right that
this might be the first meaninful death in the MCU! That being said though he, rocket or Starlord didn't have an extra space breating device, really c'mon give me a break lol

I did like it when Starlord immediately opened fire on McCready after he admitted to killing his mother.
.

But now the day after GOTG2 and here I find myself thinking about RO again.

The movie on my shelf catches the corner of my eye as if it's beckoning for my attention.

Ahhh the power of SW.

Gorgeous Wor....great depth, colors that popped. The arrow in 3D was amazing, there were some TFA Star Destroyer quality shots!

Just seeing the TLJ/Thor3 trailers in 3D was worth it.

I still need to watch Brometheus in 3D....or do I?

Is Alien Cov in 3D?

I still can't get over how great Bautista is in this movie.

He has completely obliterated the notion that professional wrestlers can't act. The man smokes Chris Pratt at every turn.

I don't know but I hope so. Chest-popping 3D!

He definitely was my fav character (along with Yondu) in this film. Bautista has really found a great character.

But Prometheus was 3D.

EDIT: and Wiki says this -- Alien: Covenant premiered in London on May 4, 2017 and is scheduled to be released on May 19 in the United States in 3D, 2D and IMAX 3D

Forget Wiki. I already bought my tickets and its IMAX 2D. I highly doubt my theater is the only exclusive 2D IMAX presentation.
