Yeah, Ford's performance in that final exchange with Kylo might have been his best in the entire saga. His death was brutal and tragic and added profound gravitas to the proceeding lightsaber duel between Rey and Kylo. Neither Han nor Ford would have wanted the finale of the film to grind to a halt so that everyone could "get all mushy" on him. It was pretty much perfect.

100% agreed.

Yeah I'm getting sick of even hearing his name in movies. **** or get off the pot Marvel.

Same here.

At this point it's Thanos who?

That's my problem with GOTG2, why is Yondu getting so much attention while Thanos is being grossly ignored.

Thanos was cooler in 5 seconds of The Avengers mid-credits scene than he was in GOTG1. :lol

3D LieMAX. The film constantly shifted from 2.35:1 to 1.85:1 with the occasional 3D pop-out effect emerging from the 2.35:1 letterboxing. Pretty much every scene on Ego's planet expanded to fill the 1.85:1 frame and most if not all of the space scenes as well.

Interior shots and other planets were mostly 2.35:1.

I reckon the consistent aspect ratio was exclusive to [real] IMAX screenings.

I remember they did the same for Kosinski's Oblivion back in 2013.

The aspect ratio at my local 15/70 never changed during GOTG2.

If you saw it in a single aspect ratio from beginning to end then a lot of scenes were cropped for your showing because that's not how Gunn filmed it:

Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn says the following about the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 IMAX release:

“I think IMAX is just a completely immersive viewing experience. I think that there is a real value to going to see a movie in a cinema surrounded by other people, but to do that it’s got to be within a theater where it really is worth it to go see it. Some of the movie is in to 2:40:1 aspect ratio which is a thinner aspect ratio and then we open up to a much fuller aspect ratio and we kind of go back and forth throughout the movie between these two aspect ratios. It creates a pretty fun feeling in the viewer to go from smaller to bigger depending on what the scene calls. You have the slow kind of quiet parts then you have the big loud parts and then it gets slow and quiet again and I think this translates perfectly to an IMAX aspect ratio shifting experience. We have elements where it breaks the screen, which we did it once or twice in the first movie. We did a few more times in this movie. You need to go see a movie like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 in a place like an IMAX theater where you can experience something completely different than you can at home because you’re going to get the biggest experience.”

They are trying to turn a simple gag from the first Guardians into a running thing and it didn't do the film any good.

We get it, Star Lord likes music.

I agree that it didn't work as well this time around, but I'm not against the idea that the soundtrack is his mom's mixtape. I just didn't think the songs worked as well. George Harrison being one exception, and Parliament being another.

I thought they sabotaged a potentially powerful moment when Star Lord said "You shouldn't have killed my mom! And crushed my walkman!" Yes we know he likes his walkman but he shouldn't have put it on the same level as his mother. And if it was just supposed to be yet another comedic moment then Pratt didn't seem to get that memo. If they were trying to be both poignant and funny at once they missed the mark because they just picked the wrong moment to combine those elements IMO.

Also what was up with the rock formation on earth killing people yet no Avengers to be seen and no mention of this incident in any of the MCU movies.

Marvel needs to stop being sloppy with their shared universe.
