Did you do IMAX, LieMAX or just regular?

3D LieMAX. The film constantly shifted from 2.35:1 to 1.85:1 with the occasional 3D pop-out effect emerging from the 2.35:1 letterboxing. Pretty much every scene on Ego's planet expanded to fill the 1.85:1 frame and most if not all of the space scenes as well.

Interior shots and other planets were mostly 2.35:1.

I didn't think either were great, but it felt a lot more natural and effective in this film than Suicide Squad to me. Which was disappointing, since the trailer made me think music would be used much more effectively than it was in Suicide Squad.

:exactly:

The only good use of music in the movie was during Harley's elevator ride. Trailers were great though and I don't hate the movie.

GOTG music attachment much better than SS.

Understandable. GOTG2's was just too in your face. The scenes were operated around the music instead of the other way around. I mean hell, look at the opening credits! :lol

SS just had a nice, complete soundtrack that went well with the tone and the scenes they were used in, IMO. They are trying to turn a simple gag from the first Guardians into a running thing and it didn't do the film any good.

We get it, Star Lord likes music.

This is so much better than Thor Dark World

That movie is horrible

Saw this and loved it. Had a chance to see it in 4D!!! It was one of those 3D deals with motion seat deals that sprays water and puffs air. Was a real treat. Gonna see it again in standard just to focus on it more. Not as good as the first, but definitely a solid Marvel addition.

Zach understands. He's a future person who has already put this movie into perspective.

busting out the big ol' sexy philosophy terms? :lol

And Pac-man.

Yup, which is one of the jokes that just fell flat. :lol

The one that made me crack up the most was "GET OUT OF THE WAY, SMALLER, DUMBER GROOT!" :lol

Now don't get me wrong, the music wasn't the reason I didn't enjoy it as much as I was expecting, there's a lot of other goofs and gaffs that should have been cut.

People will always remember Spock and Han's death. "Yondu" will be forgotten by the time this hits blu-ray and I have a feeling that the 30 minute laser light show send-off will get very old on repeat viewings (for those of you inclined to ever watch this film again.)

Oh c'mon Jye, the opening scene where Waller is telling her story and what the world was like after superman while Fortunate Son plays in the background?
Or the awesome Bronson cover of Standing in the Rain while we're introduced to Deadshot?
Or the goofy Without Me Eminem song playing when Harley dresses up?

Theses songs match the tone and emotion on screen. Ayer seemed to have a decent taste in music and knew when to use it. Gunn in the first Guardians did an excellent job, but in this one he's just checking another box off the list for what fans to expect. The music was so in your face this time around, I'm surprised they didn't make it Ego's weakness. :lol

I guess I'm one of the few who thought Han's sendoff was handled extremely well. I would have gotten bored to death if JJ threw a funeral scene in before Rey flies to the Island and haulted the final act to a complete crawl. Funeral scenes are tricky, sometimes they come off as cheesy, sometimes unnecessary. Yondu's was both.

That's my problem with GOTG2, why is Yondu getting so much attention while Thanos is being grossly ignored.

Yeah, Ford's performance in that final exchange with Kylo might have been his best in the entire saga. His death was brutal and tragic and added profound gravitas to the proceeding lightsaber duel between Rey and Kylo. Neither Han nor Ford would have wanted the finale of the film to grind to a halt so that everyone could "get all mushy" on him. It was pretty much perfect.
