Super-duper spoilers.....do not click if you don't want the entire movie ruined....you have been warned!!

....nobody died!! I can't believe it. After all the gloom and doom foreboding in the trailers and posters, the entire team survives, and even has happy endings! I don't know if people are gonna feel cheated or disappointed, but I for one am very glad they all get to live (more or less) happily ever after. A few fake-outs, but hey...all the movies do fake-outs all the time these days.

Also, Adam Warlock was really, really stupid and useless. Shouldn't have even been in the movie. What a waste of time.

Technically
I believe every single core member received a fake out death it was brilliant lol

I went in with such low expectations for AW that I was pleasantly surprised he didn’t fully suck!

If anything he was involved in way more critical parts than I was expecting for him to be in.

Yes, he wasn't at all what I expected. While his stupidity was explained as being a result of his being awoken early from his cocoon, one overpowered imbecile (Drax) in this movie was sufficient. I would have preferred it if he was just cold and ruthless before gradually discovered his own humanity and the value of friendship/family without his being a child in a super being's body.
I do wonder if he's essentially taking the place of Nova/Richard Rider in the MCU. I'm hoping not, as it seems like there's still an opportunity to have him show up in future projects.

Those magic med kits really were something, weren't they? :lol

This was the best MCU movie since EG.

GOTG3 > NWH

:chase

Villain very well done.

Marvel done goofed up.

Should Be:

Avengers High Evolutionary Dynasty not Kang Dynasty.

lol

Not without Gunn they're not.
Unlike many don't think much of Gunn as a writer. He can be ponderous, unfunny, and the whole bathroom humor of GOTG2. IMO very uneven.

That said, a lot of the IMO from IW on is pretty uneven to tepid to outright cringe.

He makes the rest of post EG MCU look like The Room.

I wish they'd had the balls to commit to
killing Quill off at the end. Would have been the perfect emotional ending for him and the team.

While I get that point of view, I think having Star-Lord available for future appearances is a good thing, especially as Marvel leans into more cosmic adventures. Plus I think they may have finally realized that killing off their biggest stars isn't a recipe for success. :lol Heck, with his being on Earth at the end of this, it's not that difficult to imagine his being a prominent member of the next Avengers team.

You make a good point however my POV was how I felt they should have ended the Guardians story. I'm not interested in any future Marvel release. Guardians was the only interest I had in whatever phase we're in now. :lol

So

Rocket lives but Starlord dies saving Rocket

Bleak, no?

I mean what you want did happen.

But the theme of the movie was about everyone being reborn into a new mindset. It took Quill to die and be reborn to finally move on from Gamora’s own rebirth.

You make a very good point. Mods feel free to edit my post. :lol

I guess my view is that, in the moment, that scene could have worked with
Quill dying too.

I think it would have worked even better if

Rocket lived when Star-Lord seemingly died saving him, but then Adam Warlock DID die saving Star-Lord. Mainly because I thought Adam was the weakest part of the movie lol.

I liked Quill finally being reunited with the last remaining family he had left on Earth.

Killing Adam Warlock off that early would have been very dumb. Sure he was completely useless in this movie but there’s obviously a plan to develop him further.
