What's so horrible about it. I hope it spreads nationwide. With all the hulabaloo about the horrible Arizona immigration legislation, there might have been increased tension.

really? we're not supposed to celebrate the diversity that makes up our country? because honestly if you are not native american then you need to get out.......
well i didn't start it and i've been reading a lot of ignorant statments being made in some of these threads lately. i tried to stay out but i couldn't. i apologize.
As long as they are not shouting out racial remarks or against school dress code they should not be reprimanded. You know it is possible these kids don't give a crap about being patriotic, just about stirring trouble with Hispanics on "their day." Just saying.
Which person? This was uncalled for.... If that happened in my city, I would arrest the person for being a DUMBA&%!

So why don't you explain to me why it's so bad?Okie dokie then.
What a crock of ____. So it's wrong to be proud of your country? Even if they did wear the clothing to get a rise out of Hispanic students, as long as it's not racist or in poor taste there's nothing wrong with it. I'll be damned if I would punish my kids because of wearing patriotic clothing.
The law is not written for police to ask for "papers please" on every Hispanic person they see. Like any law though, it could be abused. Time will tell. As far as illegal immigration goes though. I'm all for deporting everyone that they find. Sorry so harsh.I don't want to get into it, but Police state comes to mind.
Rambling about something you have no clue about...
Priceless...
^Yea I called him on it too. It is quite funny.
I'll respond later if this isn't locked by then. You're being deliberately obtuse to the problem at hand - they were wearing the clothing to get a rise out of the Mexican students, and that in and of itself is wrong. How could you say it's not? Just because you aren't calling someone a derogatory name doesn't mean you can't be racist. Do you not think it's odd that a group of high school guys decided to be patriotic on Cinco de Mayo? I mean, come on!

No you're being obtuse! They are patriotic! They love this country! It had nothing to do with the fact that it was Cinco de Mayo! It was a coincidence! They know the Bill of Rights and Constitution by heart and wake up every morning reciting the pledge while facing their framed picture of George Washington! How dare you!

Psst. What kind of stuff do you want to read in GD? I'll try to do better next time but GD is a pretty broad brush isn't it? Go to the top of the page and hit that Icon that says home. A bunch of different sections pop up there where you may be able to narrow down what you want to read.
