Guess you can't honor the American flag during Cinco De Mayo

I don't think the American flag is being considered racist, nor do I think we should be examining the intent of anyone wearing an American flag on Cinco de Mayo. You're making this into more than what it is - a group of high school boys thinking they're being funny by wearing American colors on Cinco de Mayo. I doubt we have the whole story here, but I seriously believe there's more to it. They knew what they were doing. If anyone believes these students weren't doing anything other than being jack___es, you're fooling yourself, but not me.

That being said, I don't know how I would've handled this situation. The school official may have acted the way he did due to the offending students' prior behavior. Perhaps they were behavior problems, who knows? Typically those with prior histories are the ones who get screwed, even if they didn't do anything wrong.

I agree that they knew what they were doing. I think they very well may have been wearing American colors on Cinco de Mayo because they thought it was funny, or to counter Mexican national pride. I still don't see a problem with any of that.

Is "counter Mexican national pride" short for "being jerks"? I'm confused as to why anyone would want to dampen or counter their day, unless it's out of immaturity. :dunno

Anyway, I don't think I have anything else to say about this.

Like I said ... for the same reason that a Yankees fan would wear Yankees stuff to Fenway (even if the Yankees weren't playing there that day) -- a mixture of national pride and personal audacity. They're high-schoolers. Immaturity is a given.

Even if I take EVERYTHING you say as is ... I see no reason for any punishment whatsoever.

the reality is this is being blown out of porportion due to what is going on in Arazona. no one should have been suspended and things never should have reached this point but it did, though you have to ask yourself if this would have happened even a month ago.

Agreed, it's being blown waaaay out of proportion and no.

What's going on there?
Actually, where the hell is that place?... :dunno

That's the difference between you and I, then. It's not okay to ruffle someone's feathers just for the sake of doing it.

I gotta agree with you dude...

I'm going to really miss America....

Are you leaving the country?...

If highschoolers are to be punished everytime they "ruffle feathers", a high school will have to be a maximum security prison.

Ruffling feathers is not a crime ... and, in some cases, is an admirable trait (when your principles outweigh your concern for self-image).

BS, It's all in what ruffles each individuals feathers. It pisses me off when I see Obama bumper stickers and t-shirts. Do I have a right to be pissed off? Yes. Do I have the right to ask them to turn their shirt inside out? No. Being offended is not against the law.

I was on trindle road yesterday stopped behind a car that had a "911 was and inside job bumper sticker on it" brought to you by info wars. It ____ing irritated the piss out of me. But its his right to drive around with that on his car if he so wants.

But if the person was a student at your school, you might.
