The movie does look cool, but really the high-concept itself is what sells it. A mega-budget movie featuring giant monsters vs giant mech robots? Duh. Only someone like Stephen Sommers could screw that up.

GDT is a great filmmaker, and that's what excites me most. But this is the easiest sell in the world. It's just too obvious for me to assign Second Coming status to it. And I'm still left hoping the monsters and robots get more (or at least as much) screen time as the human characters.

You're such a debbie-downer! Jeez!:thwak

i think this movie is going to be crap with all the CGI , they should have kept it more realistic like this one :)

What's he getting down about? I think he's saying that this movie will do gang busters at the box office that it's a no brainer that this will be successful. He just hopes the Bots and Monsters get as much screen time as the humans. As he stated, Del Toro is a fantastic film maker and I have no doubt everything the humans do will be tied to the monsters and the consequences of the battles, unlike transformers where it seemed like Bay could have cared less about the Transformers themselves.

And I think what we're seeing in the trailer in the way of robot to monster fights is just one fight, it looks to me like we're seeing the first fight, maybe first two, before Charlies character gets the hell beaten out of him in a fight and quits the defense system. Could you imagine if this trailer is just the first 30 mins of the movie? :D

according to the synopisis, most the robots are already destroyd leaving one outdated one with 2 outcast pilots to save the world ..

With LP doing both this and Godzilla, it would be so damn epic if after Godzilla was released that the Pacific Rim mechs fought Godzilla. Hey, I can dream can't I?

That would be too awesome... maybe LP can score rights to make some classic Mecha movies too?

This is just wetting my appetite for godzilla in 2014. Cant wait for that.
:lecture

Trailer is too simple to be honest. I was expecting something very different.
Both featured monsters looks very unimaginative and boring.

Well... at least GLaDoS has found a new job, I'm happy for her :lol

:slap
Sometimes I'm not sure if your comments are for jest, or if you're serious... if the latter then :thwak

IMAX or bust for this one!

:exactly::goodpost:

Trailer doesn't blow me away honestly. I'm a fan of Stringer Bell (who isn't?), and it could be fun. I know del Toro's involvement means it will probably be solid. But the trailer in itself isn't doing much for me. I dunno what it is. I get what they are trying to do, it just doesn't seem all that effective.

I just find it ironic reading a "Riddick" fan, (which is a series of mediocre Sci-Fi movies), bashing the pure awesomeness of this trailer... :lol:lol:lol
Ooooooh snap.

I find it stupid calling "Riddick" series a Sci-Fi while sreaming !AWESOME! about mediocre trailer of potentially unimaginative blockbuster :wink1:

Looks cool. Will wait for reviews to see in theatre or on netflix.

This is a movie MADE for the theater experience. I'm sure the Imax will be insane but I'm not sure if I'm too keen on seeing this in 3d as alot of the picture looks very dark. The only way I see the 3D version being good is if they do a cut for 3d that has a brightened picture.

Nothing for you to see here dude... move along!!

:lol!

Well, already gone from "amazing" to just "ok". Damnit :lol

Yep, that's the cynics for you... the same ones who bash Hot Toys and are the first ones to buy... they'll be @ the theaters watching this on opening night!
:lol
