From what is said in the latest trailer it sounds like the Kaiju are actually sent to destroy us by some unknown alien race.

people are comparing it to Godzilla, people are comparing to Transformers (that is making a lot of people don't like this for some reason)

I have been reading some comments about how "lame this is going to be"

A lot of us are really happy, but I have read pretty negative comments as well

I have as well. And you know why you read negative comments about it? Because of CelticP's hero and the other, lesser known idiots who make terrible robot/alien invasion movies.

They've tainted that genre. So now when people see a new one coming, they know what to expect. Yet they'll still all go and eat it up like *********.

Hopefully since this movie has actual talent behind it, it will restore a bit of dignity to the giant robot genre.

I think either Crimson Typhoon or Gipsy Danger are my favorite Jaegers atm. Can't wait to see them in action.

It won't with your attitude. No one will see it because everyone is being dumb ****s about it. Transformers are bad. But this isn't transformers. If you have a brain, you can see the difference.

Now, granted, Pacific Rim might flop but not based on robots. Simply because the concept isn't based off anything and the audience doesn't want to jump into something new.

That's why Transformers makes money. Because people have heard of it before.

No no. It looks like an old mech anime brought to life. That's what will attract people. People also will like the concept of robot vs monster. It's very reminiscent to the old 80s anime and Japanese movies and the ga will look at it as a homage to those movies.
