Why don't you want them to see the film, and give the film money?

I hope every showing from times 2-8:00 are filled to the brim with annoying teenagers. They'll pack the house and make it a hit. That's a GOOD thing. Even if they hate it or whatever they do...the money is still made.

Cool concept art.

And I'm glad...
People who liked Bayformers DON'T deserve this kind of movie...
The ironic thing is that Transformers was a natural evolution of Super Robots and Mecha, so, if people are so stupid to not know there's a history behind this, should stay away from this movie...

I Completely disagree.

You shouldn't be. Because the film will fail without a ton of people seeing this.

So while you're playing Mr. High and Mighty, no one will care about this movie, and it'll be shoved under the rug before you can say Atlantic Rim.

And why do you want that? This movie NEEDS to do well because it's a big budget, highly imaginative movie directed by one of the best creative minds in Hollywood right now. This movie cannot fail.

Period.

Why don't you want them to see the film, and give the film money?

I think Celtic said it pretty much Perfectly.

If this movie is a success they will make sequels, and it will help Guillermo with his future big budget projects.

But for it to be a success, it needs to have all those people that like Transformers to pay for this in the Box office.

I really don't mind if Bay fans go crazy for this. I really really, really hope they do. I hope fans of Transformers would love this one as well, because that would help this movie become a hit.

call it a necessary evil.

I get his point, but I'm in your camp CP. If Pacific Rim absolutely bombs, it won't be a good thing. Especially when the new Splosionbots comes out and makes enough to wipe out the debt of a small country. It will only cement the idea in Hollywood that that trash is what people want. If this succeeds Del Toro may even be able to get financing for his Into the Mouth of Madness film, or Hellboy 3. So yeah, I hope the idiots jump on board.

This man gets it! :exactly: :goodpost:

I'm not saying the movie should bomb... just that the Bayformer fans stay away from it... there's a LOT of people that didn't like Bayformers... so it could be a hit without them... just saying...

Anyway, whatever will be, will be...

There's a A LOT of people that do. So wouldn't you want the movie to make A LOT of money?

Who gives a **** if Bayformer fans see it or not? What difference does that make? You're acting like a crappy dictator.

I hope people who like Daft Punk's new album don't see this movie. They couldn't handle it.

See how much sense that makes?

I know, but one way this could be a big hit is if the Transformers crowd embraces it.

A lot of people are dismissing this movie as a Transformers rip off. A lot of people don't like big monster movies either.

So the audience for this gets smaller and smaller judging from opinions like those,

That's why I said necessary evil, because the Transformers fans that are annoying to you might be the same people that could save this movie.

It looks like an awesome movie with an awesome premise that hasn't been done in a while. Monsters vs robots. It looks fun. The problem is I keep seeing idiots compare it to transformers.

Because it has robots fighting. It's comparable.

Will it be as dumb and sloppy? I doubt it. Del Toro is a good story teller.

well, to someone that has no idea what the plot is about, and sees the trailer with a big robot fighting a monster, it is not that big of a stretch.

Specially if the only other point of reference those people have is Power Rangers, which this gets compared to a lot right now as well.

Yes, there are a lot of us that think Splosionbots 1-3 are complete garbage. But those films all made over $500 Million, judging from that point of view there are more of them than us. It's become apparent to Hollywood, that Geeks/Nerds are not a large enough audience to make a real profit. Hence they make changes to characters and stories to appeal to John Q. Public.

Think of it this way. McDonald's is the largest Hamburger ditributor in the world, and their food is utter crap. You and i can open a fantastic burger place, with exceptional quality and real ingredients. But no matter how many food critics we wow, or how many evolved pallettes we feed, if we don't pull in some of the McDonald's crowd we won't be in business for long. In the same way Pacific Rim needs the knuckledragging audience if it wants to be successful. It can be a critical darling, and it means nothing, if it can't find an audience outside of those who already like giant robots and monsters. And who knows maybe some of them might develop taste and realize they want more than just McDonald's.

I think movies like this need a human element the audience can relate to. Even a very elementary, poorly done human element like Shia LaBeouf is enough to give the audience a surrogate. I think that GDT understands this and will deliver.

See but that's the thing. The mere fact that it looks like power rangers, evangalion and others is what will draw people in. We will see.

Nah. I'm just tired of your twirpy little **** act.

But then again, maybe it's not an act, and you really are a twirpy little ****. You do think of yourself as a better person then "Logan" because he has a different film taste in you. Sounds a bit Nazi ish to me.

Hm. Twirpy little Nazi maybe. La Twirp. :lol

I really can't wait for that opening weekend. The anticipation is killing me :gah:

so much at stake right now....:thud:
