Nearly 30 years have passed since the Terminator opened in theaters. You may want a more modern example. I guess you could say Avatar, but that had a new gimmick (3D) and big name director (James Cameron).

It comes down to originality when it comes to stories. Not much left in regards to that. Oh by the way be more specific with your questions then if you don't want to involve older films. Silly question you asked in the first place especially in the present world of remakes and copied stories. Much more difficult for originality nowadays. Not to say it doesn't happen but much harder for it to be. If Chronicle had a super well done sequel then I could see it happening. PR is from what I gather a rehash or mix of things we have see already but done well and names have been changed.

I can see the vibe this is going to have. Just watching the preview on the big screen had such a feeling of awe to it. Really hope people give it a chance. What they need to do is work hard with the younger kids marketing. Get picked up by all the mini toys you see for the 4-5 year olds (the company that does Marvel/DC/ and Star Wars, I think its called imaginext?). Thats the key, like someone mentioned, sure the genre geeks are going to be lined up, but they need this to be something that everyone wants to see.

Well anyway bottom line in today's world and maybe forever it is a more difficult task for what you asked to happen. Ask yourself this question how many times have you watched films that bring back some memory of an older film. Sometimes very old films. For me the 80's is not that old, now pre late 60's is old. LoL

Postcards with artwork by Kevin Tong and Vania Zouravliov that were seen in the Kaiju briefcase sent for viral marketing, which were posted earlier. These are upcoming posters from Mondo now confirmed by Tong on FB.

This Kevin Tong artwork is my favorite for Pacific Rim so far. Too bad it's probably going to be at SDCC when I won't be able to get one.
