That sucks about it not being on the list but I like your choice! I'm planning on taking my new baby to the range this weekend to fire a bunch of rounds.

My next purchase will probably be a Sig P238 for my carry.

heads up!

nice collections guys. my next purchase will be a Kimber TL/RL II if i can find one for a good price. no real pics of the collection. right now i'll take some later.

Nice collection to all you guys. For years I had always been on the fence on actually purchasing a gun. The only firearm I fired was a M9 and M16 for military. Any suggestions on a handgun for first time buyer? I was actually looking at the USPct45 or the M&P45. Mainly used for collecting and firing once in a while and hopefully never used for home protection.:lol Or what do you guys recommend? Thanks.

IMHO, a 1911 is a sure thing - been around for 100+ years and picking up steam. The private smithies make great ones (Wilson Combat, Nighthawk, etc) but Kimber or SA make a great 1911 as well.

Wow..thanks for the heads up. I haven't been able to find on yet but will make sure it's not in that serial range when I do.

We have determined that a small number of P238 pistols may have safety levers that are not manufactured to factory specifications. Under certain conditions, it may be possible for the lever not to be completely engaged in the safe position. In this condition, the gun will not fire when the trigger is pulled. However, when the safety lever is moved to the off position, the hammer may fall, with the remote possibility that the gun could fire unintentionally, thus creating a risk of injury or death.

Thanks, I will look into the 1911. BTW, do you guys buy your firearm locally or is there a certain e-tailer you guys purchase it from?

I'm now leaning toward getting an AR before a handgun. Any comments on the Daniel Defense M4 Carbine or the HK SL8?

DD's look good. may i recommend bushmaster, dpms (panther arms), or rock river arms. all three have been in the ar business for a long time and have built up very good reputations.

the sl8 seems to have a bit too much going on with it design wise. IMO the simpler the better. it looks to space gun like.

as pistols go, a kimber, or wilson 1911 is the way to go. Hk's are awesome too. I have 2 of them. sigs are also very good.

hey pix,

sub compacts have a tendency to be very ungainly and very inaccurate. you don't necessarily have to go small to carry. might i recommend getting a really good concealment holster for what you have already. raven concealment makes one of the BEST kydex molded modular concealed carry holsters out there. i'm waiting for one for my kimber which will always be in my pants after i get it.

DD is a good AR platform, however I gotta respectfully disagree with Mikey2Bullets (I know, how dare I) about Rock River. I've shot a handful of those and they are made cheaply and feel as such in my experience, and I know several people who have repeated issues with DPMS as well. Bushmaster is good.

However, if I could recommend an AR, I would go hands-down with Noveske Rifleworks. Yes, they are more expensive, but who said the AR hobby is cheap, but w/ Noveske, you are shooting one of the best, if not "the" best available IMO.

i've never actually handled a full rock river just some aftermarket parts.
so i was going on what i knew. my dpms upper is solid, then again it's an older more robust one. it seems a lot of the more recent makes are kinda crappy across the board. just from reading what's on the ether anyways.

noveske huh? now i'm intrigued..... and poor. :monkey4

any opinions on LWRC's. i was considering a gas piston in the future. but i may just go with my m14.

I'm not sure if this question is appropriate but I'm thinking of purchasing a shotgun for home defense since there have been quite a few shootings in my area in the last few months but the problem is one of my relatives who lives in the same house as me has a felony on their record. Now my record is clean and I've take a firearms safty course but would it be legal for me to own a firearm with a felon living in the same home? Of course it will be locked up in a safe and no one will have access to it but me but I don't want to get either of us into trouble. I live in California if it makes any difference.

yeah, I was intrigued too - and now I am poor as well. But poor with a kickass rifle and carbine to boot. Wouldn't have it any other way.

Mikey - I agree it does seem like a lot of the newer stuff is getting made quickly and cheaply - this is what is intriguing about Noveske, and they make you pay for it. :D

i've been very happy with Bud's Gun Shop. yeah, once you get passed the name then it's all good. i've bought two handguns from them so far with great experience. repeat buyer here. highly recommended. for rifles try DD's Ranch. smooth and easy transactions. i bought my S&W AR15 from them.

Thanks guys for all the info. I stopped by a local gun shop during my lunch break and I'm leaning more towards the DDM4. The owner had it for $1650, I actually came across DD Ranch too P1X4R and they have the DDM4 for $1295. These are brand new not used right? One problem is that I still need to register for a long gun and it will take 2 weeks and I'm afraid it will sell out since the site states they only have 1 in stock.

I am a big fan of WWII rifles. I have an M1 Garand, and an o3a3. I also have an M14, a Rem 700, and some others.
nice grab!! i've been wanting one for a couple years.
Welcome to the Freaks board! :rock

Post some pics of the Garand. Did you acquire it through the CMP program?
do you have one from the CMP??? i'm a member, but have never gotten around to getting one. right now here's my current colleciton:

Ruger P345
Springfield Armory XD45
Mauser K98

Current Wish List:

Probably not a good idea. A Dog/big stick works well for Home Defense.

Damn, I hate talking to gun salesman rather than guys who look out for you when you purchase a gun. If they don't have it in stock they will try and sell you one that they have instock so they can make a quick sale.
