For the 4th of July, I tried my hand at multi-stage Steel Challenge shooting for the first time. I didn't do too hot, but it was so much fun. Not sure how to embed it, but this video is one I'm not as embarrassed about ;) Here you start holstered in the Red box. At the buzzer, draw and engage red target, step into white box and engage white target, step into blue box and engage blue target, then back to red.

All the square-stepping would throw me off... :thud:

Got me a Beretta Model 96 in .40 S&W today. It was a police trade in, a little wear on it but half the cost of a new one. Can't beat a stainless steel bargain! :yess:

That is cool! I am joining a local range in my area that offers regular NRA rifle and pistol matches.

I just ordered this monopod from accu-shot, its going to be mounted on my PRS stock (Same as in picture)

Its a gamble though, I'm going to California on Saturday, the first two days i will stay in a hotel in L.A, I gave that address to accu-shot, so I really hope they will deliver before i check out, because after that we will be on a road trip around CA.

My 'final' configuration (until something else comes up...). Reducing weight some more, I swapped out the PEQ-2A for a PEQ-15. The 15 is way easier to zero since it has a visible red laser co-aligned with the IR laser. Sorry for the poor Iphone pic...

That looks sweet!!!

I would pay good money for a magnum from dirty harry but the stupid gun laws in this country prevent me getting even an imatation firearm, whilst on the street I could get a real one.

I have a few replica firearms mainly my robocop pistol and my pulse rifles from aliens will post some pics.

Actually, I do believe that UKARA will allow you to bypass the VCR bill and purchase a RIF (airsoft replica) if you play a few skirmishes and get a membership.

Hmm interesting.

But do they do a magnum airsoft replica?
If so I would seriously consider that and have played paintball before and that was a good laugh.

Don't know much about the skirmishes whats that basically paintballing?

Per the VCR bill, you might have to import it through a UK-based retailer, but that's just as easy as going in, dropping a deposit, then swinging by to pick it up and pay off the rest when it arrives.

As for the skirmishing, essentially yes. Except that in place of fat paint balls, you're shooting little 6mm plastic BBs. Given the UK's at a 1 Joule limit (280-310fps), you won't have a fat welt if you get hit. Pretty much just a mosquito bite or a runaway pimple if you get a welt. :lol Wear the proper safety gear and it's virtually painless.

Thanks for the info thats really cool I will look into that for sure:)

Might go skirmishing dressed as dirty harry aswell:)

I visited Las Vegas last week while on my California road trip.

For me being a Swede (Swedish law only permit civilians to own bolt action rifles and semi automatic pistols) firing a automatic weapon is very exotic, so of course we had to visit the gun range in the state with the most liberate gun laws in the US (A little too liberate if you ask me).

Firing a 7.62mm G3 in semi mode. I've never fired a 7.62 before , kicks like a mule!

Corny pose by me ;)

My girlfriend is firing a pink AR-15 in semi mode, she was quite shocked by the recoil, lucky for her she didnt try the G3

Pink it is

Me with a Semi automatic Benelli, 5 shots fired in a short time peroid, was not easy to get the rounds tightly grouped.

My girl, firing the Glock 17, she over compensated for the recoil which made her shoot too low
glock17.jpg

I've never fired a 9mm pistol before, but i had no problem with it since I own a M1911 .45.

Firing an MP5 in full auto, the instructor gave me some support with the first few rounds until I found a good stance for full auto. He was very impressed with the bullet grouping since it was my first time firing an automatic weapon :p

Another pose which make me look stupid

The last weapon of the day was a Finnish 9mm SMG drum fed, yummy!
50 bullets fired at full auto!

I managed to group all 50 shots within the figure, im pleased with the result.

Corny group photo of me and girlfriend (I've learnt her trigger discipline, but in all the exitment she forgot it in this pic)

I can help you with this one. There are two options when it comes to cheap .22 rifles; Marlin and Ruger. Everything else falls below the quality of these two brands. Don't let the low price of these rifles fool you into thinking that they are somehow lower quality. You can spend twice the price on a .22 rifle and get half the quality of a Marlin or Ruger.

If you want a great rifle right out of the box, get a Marlin. They are the most accurate without any tinkering, and they are more affordable than the Ruger 10/22. A brand new 10/22 will usually need some tinkering with the trigger and or barrel to be as accurate as a Marlin. There are some people who end up putting two or three times more money into fixing up their Ruger when they could have just bought a Marlin and had a great rifle to begin with.

However, since Ruger's need work to make them awesome, there are a lot of aftermarket parts available to upgrade them. There aren't really any aftermarket parts for a Marlin, because the rifle doesn't need them. Be warned, once you buy a .22 rifle and see how fun and cheap they are to shoot, you will be hooked and WILL end up buying a second or third 22. :lol

If you decide to go with the Marlin, the model 60 is a great rifle. I would also recommend that you look at a bolt action Marlin like the 981t. You can shoot any .22 shell out of a bolt action. You can't shoot hyper-velocity ammo in a model 60. You will destroy the rifle and could injure yourself in the process. No stingers in a semi-auto! You are also in luck, as Marlin is running a rebate special right now. If you buy a rifle before December, you can get a rebate by mail. Here is a link to the coupon... https://www.marlinfirearms.com/PDFs/mar_coupon.pdf

You can special order most any .22 at Walmart for the lowest price you are likely to find. These are two great Marlin rifles that you can get the $20 rebate on using the coupon above...

Marlin 795... https://www.marlinfirearms.com/Firearms/SelfLoading/795.asp

If you want to learn more about .22 rifle (or rimfire shooting) you can start reading the forum https://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/index.php

It's not really my thing, but you can upgrade both the Marlin and Ruger rifles into "tactical" .22 rifles just for fun. Here are some examples...
