If you like playing with your figures and posing them = 1/6

If you like taking them out and setting them up on a shelf and dusting/once a week = statues

Me, Im a lazy bum. I unpackage it, look at it for 2 seconds and put them up on a shelf or in a glass case. Come back, admire them everyone once in awhile and walk away. I like statues. And even my few 1/6 figures (down to about 15 now) stay in a static pose forever.

It just depends if you're a hands on collector or hands off.

Statues also just have a certain class. When someone mentions the 40 year old syndrome, you can reply "They're statues/art". Althought I'm finding I like to mix in a 1:6 figure in with the statue display. Hard to tell the difference behind glass.

I am definitely losing interest in 1/6 scale figures:horror Now that I have acquired a PF and three 1:1 scale busts and a polystone statue I have the fever for the bigger and better quality collectibles.

I'm just the oposite. I first started with statues, mainly the DC Direct line which is about 1/6 scale. As a Bat freck, I bought a 1/6 Batman figure and bought a body for the Christian Bale head and then a tux and shoes and socks and I was hooked on the custom aspect of the hobby. To be able to personalize a figure and pose it with a newspaper or a cell phone or with a drink in his hand, this is a kick you can't get from a statue. I'm not tossing my statues, but enjoying the figures more.

I was never one for "toys", didn't even have action figures when I was a kid. So I started with polystone statues (LOTR) and went from there, which basically meant more statues and PF's.
I can't see that changing.

each to their own I like 1/6th, I like customising 1/6th I dont own (although I can see the attraction with a few) "statues" Pf or dios

I have busts, all the GG Matrix bar the light up Neo (not my cup of darjeeling) but even they are 1/6th

I collect what I like / want, I like PF's but I dont have a driving force to buy them. I like some of the dios but same applies here too

Apart from my customs, good HT offerings, and my obsession with SW and Sideshow then Im happy collecting "dollies/toys/actionfigures"

You statue snobs can carry on with your static displays leave us kids with our toys

I collect 1/6 figures as well as polystone statues and replicas/props, everything that fits into my Star Wars Original Trilogy Imperials focus or other lines that I like: Terminator, Predator, anime (Shirow stuff) etc. Some of the 1/6 figures look too good to pass on them.

I also had that progression.

I started with Mcfarlane, then 12", then PF, then 1:1 busts.

Now I have sold many things to only keep those really special pieces ...

I went this route little over a year ago and I've never looked back, PF all the way and I do not regret selling off all of my 1/6th collection.

I think everyone goes through this at some points during our collecting addictions.
Personally I don't collect 1/6 but i've gone from having a massive entirely LOTR SSW collection.
I sold most of my SSW LOTR and only have my select few favourite pieces, with a few GG too & SS Dio's.
Then I started with Marvel including many SS PF's and Bowen pieces, and then digressed some more onto to Aspen and Moore Ladies.

I'm at the point again where I need to trim down the collection too.

All tastes change, its part of the fun of our collecting imo.
x :peace

This is natural. I had a similar situation, only mine was with Hasbro Star Wars figures (which I have A LOT of and am trying to sell). Moved onto statues and busts and a few 12" Sideshow Bond figures. Statues are just more elegant and classy. Not that figures can't look wonderful when posed and lit properly, but statues just...well...they're not toys. ;)

Depends what your interests are,me personally are very selective compared to other collectors ive seen with 1/6 figures,my collection basically is based on Rocky and Rambo,it goes anything from Action figures of Rocky to 1/6 figs and Statues and Busts,so my interest is mostly Stallone(Rocky/Rambo).And then my third priority is Metal Gear Solid figures.

Besides that i have Batman,Pirates,Superman Returns but thats just extra stuff i have no problem selling in a trade for a Rock/Rambo or MGS collectible.

Thats how i collect,i love my 1/6 figures, and if a Rambo PF ever came i wouldnt choose between the 2 types,i would keep both.
My advice is get rid of stuff you dont need to raise cash for stuff you burn for.
You collect Rambo...and thats a line worth keeping, since its complete with figures from each movie, would be easier to collect more lines if HT were better on completing lines with all figures needed.

Its also easier to tell someone you collect statues, and not figures, statues is...well acceptable, toys and figures are not when you tell someone about it:lol

tell me about it, i tell my family about my figures and toys and they laugh. but when i tell and show them how much i can flip them for they change their tone.:gun

now when they see my statues they have no problem there........

more expensive ≠ higher quality

I like 'em both. Where PF has 1/6 beat in size, 1/6 has PF beat with pose-ability.

I've gone back and forth several times. I'm firmly entrenched in 1/6 now with very few PF's. I've always liked toys and always will I guess. PF's are sweet but take up a LOT of room...especially their boxes. Got sick of storing those huges bastiches. I will always collect multiple formats of the licenses I really like such as Hellboy, Alien and Terminator. Collect what you like.

im too scared to buy my first PF  i know i will get hooked on them but i cant really afford to :monkey2:monkey2 .

I've never been hooked to any specific thing from sideshow or hot toys or any scale specifically. I buy what I like the look of regardless of the size or poseability issues.
If you feel you should sell your figures for something else you could enjoy more do it !.

It just so happens for me most of the crap that appeals to me is in 1/6 scale form and it is probably my favorite type of collectible.:rock

I've had the same experience bro, believe me i've too come to those cross roads! When I aquired my Jason PF it really did nothing to me (In terms of switching sides) but when I got my 1:1 Endo Skull I was lit up! For days I contimplated the idea of selling everything (minus Rambo III, Robocop, Rocky III and my Terminators of course :D) and buying up every damn possible high end Terminator piece but I just couldn't do it! I love these damn 6 scale bastards too much, so for me, i'm still a 1/6 collector and will probably always be one.

However its also nice to have a good mix, when I get my T-800 PF I will setup a complete Terminator display with PF, 1:1 Endo Skull and 1/6 scale figs! A good mix can't be wrong.
