Not necessarily for the rich, but it's tough to have fun in it if you're working minimum wage. Education first...Sideshow a very distant second... or 10th.

Yeah true,im very selective so i dont struggle as long as i have normal income, but like what this thread is about, people have problems choosing when these collectibles are so expensive,so for those that collect 1/6 and statues you better have money,150$+++ for each 1/6 isnt exactly cheap.

You're right about that. 1/6 is actually more expensive. A top of the line HT fig can cost 150.00 easily. Nice thing is when you sell them off you can often make more on the 1/6 stuff by parting it out. Through buying and selling both for several years I can tell you the 1/6 is easier to get your money back on if you paid original retail. Very few PF's actually increase much in value. Some, like The Thing actually lose major value. There are exceptions. Most Marvel PF's increase in value.

If you buy all of your PF's from Sideshow you will probably lose money when you go to sell them later. Buying cheaper on ebay is the way to go in the majority of circumstances. Buy what you like, but definitely buy smart. You never know when you'll want to latch onto something different and need to sell tomorrow what you treasure today.

I just started collecting 1/6 scale and, at least for now, I have no desire to start with the statues and PFs. I like the poseability of the 1/6 and think their level of detail and accuracy is greater than I ever expected. For me, the statues and PFs would be much too large and a little on the dull side.

Statues also just have a certain class. When someone mentions the 40 year old syndrome, you can reply "They're statues/art". Althought I'm finding I like to mix in a 1:6 figure in with the statue display. Hard to tell the difference behind glass.

Good point. When I see a crap load of 1/6 upon 1/6 on shelves, it just looks like a mess. However when I see statues and they're in their curios or whatever, it just looks like art.

Like I said, nothing wrong with a little 1/6 mixed in cuz I have about 15-20 or so myself, it's just when they're overloaded in a room, it just doesnt look right. But I guess too much of anything can be a little scary...

I am definitely losing interest in 1/6 scale figures:horror Now that I have acquired a PF and three 1:1 scale busts and a polystone statue I have the fever for the bigger and better quality collectibles. :D I have a feeling that this is a natural progression. And I am liking it:lol I have spent a lot on my 1/6 figures(which you can see by clicking the My Collection link below in my sig.) and though they cool I just don't have the same feeling I get when I gaze on my higher end statues:monkey3 I am considering letting a magority of the 1/6th stuff go to get MORE of the higher end stuff. Anyone else at this crossroads  I probably will regret letting most of my 1/6th stuff go but I just keep thinking of the stuff I want and it don't feel that bad:lol
Right there with ya dude!!!

Go with your gut and get what you like. If you feel a sudden urge to own a certain PF, sell some crap you're sick of and get it. Chances are it will be much more satisfying to you.

I flip-flop on this stuff all the time, but will always go with my natural urge when it comes to collecting.

I like art.

So do I. However, this is a polystone figure.

As Walt Disney once said upon looking at a Piccaso, "the man might be famous, but he sure can't draw."

Really? Disney said that?... wow...

I don't like his style but he COULD draw, he chose a different style afterwards, but based on the above images, I think he was pretty good at it...
sorry but if Disney said this in fact, well...that was pretty ignorant...

Picasso could could most definitely draw !. :lol
Walt Disney if he did say that was either joking or as stated being ignorant.
He chooses a different style but he can draw amazingly.
Some of his pieces just make you think " waa ?" though so I could understand where he would be coming from in that aspect.
