Half the fun of collecting is waiting for stuff to arrive

Depends on how long. I don't have anything on PO that will be shipped before march 2013. Quiet a hard time. =)

I'd say more like 3/4 of the fun. It's all about the anticipation. Once we actually get whatever it is, you pull out of the box, mess with it for a few minutes, maybe take some pics and then stick it on a shelf to collect dust. Hundreds of dollars gone for the brief euphoria of finding that brown shipping box on your doorstep.

I have to agree with this as long as the time frame is reasonable.

After I get my figure I only spend a little bit of time with it then display it and move on.

I love waiting. I never PO anything anymore unless it's a PF that's most likely gonna sell out or get on waitlist before it comes out.

Waiting has cut out all of my purchases that I would do on a whim. I am much more selective and have a lot more money now thanks to it. :rock

You just blew my effn mind :(

Personally the wait stresses me, especially if I have money down also if I have a few preorders I start to calculate the lot as one dollar value instead of many smaller ones which also stresses me...

The sight of a shipping box is quite an exciting thing. Especially if its your day off. I even sometimes delay the moment of opening it with various household tasks just to savour it a bit more and obviously to get $h!t out of the way before I settle in to some serious masturb- action figure opening and appreciation time.

That sounds about right.

The waiting it the fun part... to a point.

Waiting six months after ordering something builds up great anticipation, but waiting 2 years kills it.

And waiting 18 months plus after announcement for the pre-order, then another 6-8 months after finally ordering is absolute hell.

I did this a while back, i got a figure and didn't open it for a week because i wanted to be in completely clear a frame of mind with free time to savour the moment. My sister said since it took me that long to open it and savour the moment it's not the product that i want it's the waiting excitment :lol

You win this thread. It is exactly that, in my case anyways. Lately, though, I am finding I enjoy my figures alot more. That is mainly due to the fact I have stopped chasing everthing that looks cool and focused on a few licenses only, without being a completist about them, either. When your sehlves aren't clogged with figures falling over eachother, you can appreciate them, one by one, a lot better.

OK, that was a little bit off topic. Knowing something is on the way to me is the most exciting part. Well...second to actually opening it up for the first time. The thrill of the hunt is what keeps me addicted.

I do have to teach myself, I will never be as happy with a kitbash as I would an official figure. I love piecing them together but once done...I feel nothing for it. Very odd.

:goodpost:

Less is definatley more, an individual piece shines more than a bunch of them crammed next to each other.

For figures i'm mostly sticking to one of each character.

With HT current prices I have been customizing a lot more lately and I feel the exact opposite. After I finish my custom I feel such a great sense of accomplishment and pride.

I love seeing new figures or something being premiered i follow then finding out if can afford then how long until i can own it forever....I defnitley love that and waiting for some of the stuff brings a bright light of optimism that on crappy days i may have...Thats something i love to look forward to instead the stupid or crazy people or stuff we all deal with around us is dwindled away with happy thoughts of a new 89 batmobile is on my way home to me...........

Careful now. It's posts like that that can end hobbies.
