And for those who've forgotten, that's a young boy squirming and wriggling in front of his mom and dad before his pumpkin mask begins rotting his head. Yup, this movie had some balls too.

As a kid I didn't like this one very much, but the more I've seen it over the years, the more I've come to appreciate it. Now, I like it better than several of the sequels with Michael Meyers.

I remember being quite fascinated with this movie the first time I saw it. I was expecting more Michael Myers, instead I got something that shared more DNA with Carpenter's Prince of Darkness than anything else.

I really wish the Halloween films had stuck with this idea of having a different story to each film, certainly better than the endless sequels and remakes running the Michael Myers concept into the ground.

I've always loved this movie. Great cult classic. The people who hate it, because it's not like the other Halloween movies, just don't get it.

My wife and I always enjoyed it as kids. I get why Myers fans would have hated it just for trying to change the series to a series of different Halloween tales, but by itself I enjoyed it's premise. And the song!

Kids knocked on the door tonight, after they got their 'treat' they left singing "happy, happy Halloween" :yess:

Indeed. I'm a big Michael Myers fan myself. I prefer him over Jason, Pinhead, and Leatherface. The only one that might top him, if I had to make a list, might be Freddy. That said, I still enjoy Season of the Witch. It's a good horror movie in it's own right.

I have a playlist of music from the Halloween franchise in my music library, and despite not including Myers, this movie has a few tracks in there. The opening credits are so simple, yet, there's something ominous and really likable about it. The combination of Carpenter and Howarth really works.

This movie is one of the most unique films, and my reaction to it equally unique, of anything I've ever seen. Some of it is so beyond ludicrous and to levels where in other films might make me dislike it, for some reason, I give it a pass here, like stealing a rock from Stonehenge, really, but hey, **** it, I'll buy it. I always describe this movie to people who haven't seen it as the best worst movie ever. By so many standards it's awful, yet somehow it has the right charm to keep you coming back. I never saw it until it happened to be on TV, I wasn't going to buy a non-Myers Halloween without seeing it, but once I saw it, I liked it and it's now in my movie library.

I will not add Rob Zombie's Halloween 2 into my Halloween movie collection, I have added this, and I have them all, 1-9, even the producer's cut of Curse and the rare TV edit of Halloween.

Great sum-up, pretty much how I feel about it. So incredibly ludicrous but unique. And some brilliant artistry mixed in. I got an expanded soundtrack a few years ago signed by Howarth and Carpenter and its one of my prize possessions, it's amazing music, especially the opening "chariots" track with the sharp synth strings.

I have the TV edit of Halloween too, really like it actually. :rock

Chariots is great, didn't want to mention it by name since I didn't know if anyone else even had the score :lol

The TV cut is a nice alternate, I don't need the added sister connections, but the early scene of Loomis trying convince the board of what Michael is was a nice addition. It's not necessary, but I enjoy a glimpse at how things were prior to Michael's escape. One thing I like about Rob Zombie's take, seeing Loomis' sessions with Michael, granted in Carpenter's he would have never spoke, but it's interesting to see how they interact as even in Carpenter's film, Pleasance does a great job of making you feel the past between them without ever having to see it.

What's cool about Halloween 3 is, despite no Myers, it has a Myers type ending, you can't stop the "boogeyman", even with Cochran dead, it still goes down, the final bit is just great, "stop...STOP...STOP!!!!"

Love H3. Just popped in the Blu-ray to finish the night. Still love it and just so under-rated.

I've got the TV edit on an Anchor Bay DVD, with a lenticular cover box. But how rare is this really? Is it not available everywhere on blu ray now?
