I saw Halloween on TV first and it drove me crazy when I got the VHS tape years later and there was no scene of Dr. Loomis telling young Michael that "you've fooled them haven't you, Michael? But not me", or of Michael's trashed cell. I knew they were supposed to be in there and it pissed me off that it wasn't. Of course, this was before I knew anything about the process of adding new stuff to TV versions to make up time for things that had to be cut out. I think the extras scenes all work pretty well except for the one with Jamie Lee Curtis, it just seemed like it was just put there for the heck of it. The Loomis stuff really added to it though, I thought. I did manage to find it on DVD years later and still have it. :)
Kind of the same with the second movie, I was surprised to see the theatrical version when I was used to the different ending on television.

I got an expanded soundtrack a few years ago signed by Howarth and Carpenter and its one of my prize possessions, it's amazing music, especially the opening "chariots" track with the sharp synth strings.

I think it really fits in well with all the other Carpenter movies from the 80's musically (even though he didn't direct). The soundtrack especially reminds me of The Thing and Christine, which is excellent, because I love the music from those movies as well. :clap

It's funny, I know the whole cut was to fill in gaps to edit for TV audiences, but all the Loomis scenes actually come off more like deleted scenes cut for time and put back in for a director's cut, but the Jamie Lee scene with Linda "totally" scereams last minute filler.

I'm not certain, but I believe the DVD is the full original cut plus TV scenes, not the edited for TV cut with the new scenes.

Yes, the one I've got from Anchor Bay is the full movie, with the TV scenes added in. In other news, just had the Blu Ray of Halloween 3 arrive today! Just missed the holiday, but still giving this a spin and definitely checking out the making of! :yess:

Moustapha Akkad

:lol

Yes?

I was actually just reading about the man, didn't realise he was blown up in a terrorist bomb at a hotel.
Very interesting and bizarre career, he was obsessed with making religious movies, couldn't get the financing so made Halloween.

It's an amazing blu-ray. The image quality is just superb.

Saw SotW for the first time today.

Cool idea which could've been made into something really great and timeless. The actual film is... well, meh. The script feels too empty for such an interesting story. There's no good balance between the suspense, the goofyness and the horrror. Hell, it doesn't work as a horror at all.

Now the soundtrack is AWESOME! Made me so horny, I wanna have sex with it...

Yup, this movie had some balls.
Late 70s - 80s.
Back there everyone had huge balls and stupid looking shirts. Even females.

Shut-up Riddick, the film is a brilliant original mess of a disaster of a goofy classic horror movie, anyone with taste can tell that, ...except for the music you can talk about the music.. :lol

Watched this Halloween night :) Had never seen it before but quite enjoyed it. Had that bloody silver shamrock song in my head for days though lol.

you can talk about the music. :lol
Nothing to talk about, it's magnificent.

I love the movie! It's good and cheesy and has Carpenter all over it. :rock

It's boring as hell.... I watched it with three Freaks last weekend and I fell asleep.

You fell asleep? See if I invite you over and feed you beer again. :thwak

What? Flosi was a secret napper in the corner of the room on a boys night? That's just inexcusable.
:lol

Yep. It was him, galactiboy and furystorm. We watched H1 on night and H2/H3 the next night. Lots of beer was consumed.

In his defense, we stayed up until 3:30 am Thursday, went to Oktoberfest on Friday and then Wizard World Tulsa on Saturday. I am older than him and I didn't fall a sleep. :lol

I guess we would need to have a proper document clearly stating the amount of beer consumed and the period of time involved before we can go for a full conviction.

My Untappd app shows 10 beers (for me, anyway) from Thursday night to Sunday afternoon. I know Flosi was having some local IPAs I picked out for him and also had whiskey twice, so his stuff overall was stronger than mine. Maybe the movie was too much for him to handle so he had to rest. :lol

:lol:lol That was Saturday night, which was the day of Wizard World Tulsa... I was tasting your sours and farmhouses between the IPAs, plus I had a whiskey at the bar before. :lol What can I say? I failed. :lol To my defense, I did fly the furthest to get there.
