...Tentacles you say..?

View attachment 568916
Pfft, those are weak, thin, virus-like tentacles. I like my tentacles strong, long and girthy.

It's a looooooong way down...

I think I can count on one hand the number of franchises I like that haven't been ruined.... yet.
I don't think I can. I can't think of a single big IP that I'm still excited to consume more of. Either's it's dead, or it's spiritually dead. I've come to think the former is much more preferable...

I literally went “well, at least Legacy of Kain is forgotten and not ruined” and then saw this.

Good taste.

…I still demand a remake.

I want a remake too, and a continuation, but at this point it'd be better to let sleeping dogs lie. I don't want to see it get dumbed down and ruined in order for it to have more "mass appeal".

I'd be lying if I said that I wouldn't give anything for good Raziel and Kain dollies, however...

Raziel is on my limited “dream list”. Have a Neca figure that I had to fix after its arm broke on me.

I'm a bit more of a Kain since I grvitate towards bastards, but I get you. I've tried to make a limited dream list many times now, but I go "Doom", then Vader/Anakin and from then on it snowballs to 30 places, so...

It's a shame that we'll probably never get any new and good LoK merch. I truly don't think it has any chances of any comeback, and if it does, I don't think it'll turn out great in the current climate. Writing's taken a nosedive. It'll be some cashgrab most probably.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong on this or not, but isn't Legacy Of Kain that old video game where you were a vampire and you constantly had to bite people and drink blood to stay alive, i.e. almost like an oxygen bar as if you were in an underwater level in a game?

I struggle with games like that. Also that reminds me of Earthworm Jim for some reason. Where it appeared the people who designed the game didn't figure out a way for you to survive for very long.

While I'm not sure Halo will drive through a Mulan vibe, I am a little leery in that the show runners took an objectively attractive young girl and then did their best to make her show aesthetic clearly ambiguous, as if the former methodology was some kind of crime.

Honestly I wished this series just rebooted Forward Unto Dawn and found a way to expand that story line. I thought for a low budget short snippet series, FUD was really a nice piece of storytelling. Anna Popplewell was great. The methodology of using cadets to entrench the world building was great.

Here's the whole film, it's really worth a watch.

Whew man...I kinda swore this off after hearing all the hubub but curiosity and a YouTube recommendation got me to check some scenes out.

How is this a 90 million buck series? I mean holy hell the CG movement is barely on par with early 2000s video game cutscenes. What's wild is that there are stills of the elites which look extremely high quality...and then they move and it's atrocious.

It hurts to think that there was a time where Peter Jackson was ready, willing, and lined up to do a series of Halo films. We were that close.

To think... Blomkamp was ready to begin filming Halo (all the pre-production and props etc were done, they were about to start filming the thing) when studio squabbling got it canned. At least we got District 9 in the aftermath. Then he was ready to start his sequel to Aliens when Ridley Scott got all pissy and had it cancelled, leaving us with Alien Covenant (puke noises). And since bad luck sometimes comes in 3's Blomkamp was all set to do his sequel to the 80's Robocop movie when that project got canned too.

Dude can't get a break!

Just rewatched Halo Landfall for the first time in many years it's amazing and beautiful, the detail, armors, and even the brutes look good, and its gritty war atmosphere it's as if Band of brothers met Halo. we really were robbed from an amazing Live-action Halo project.

Dammit I had forgotten about that entirely, he was on for Halo at one point too. The Alien continuation is so unfortuante as well; it'd be interesting to see if Disney has any leverage on that front moving forward. I doubt it...but one can hope.

Maybe in another 10 years we'll finally get a Halo film series done right when this has settled.

I know they have been devisive, but I genuinely believe that Halo 4, 5 and Infinite all have done a tremendous job of humanizing Chief...all without showing his face (officially, that is). The games themselves aside, they did some really solid work there. As far as the show goes, I would have understood it more if they'd cast a BIG name actor in the roll, someone who's name alone would draw people. But, with all respect to Pablo, I don't know many folks who know him by name recognition. How many people are going to say "oh, that's that new Pablo show, I wana watch it"?

When it all comes down to it, they should have picked the a well-built stunt man to play the roll ala David Prowse with Vader and have Steve Downes dub Chief. They brought in Jen Taylor to do Cortana, no reason they couldn't have done it here. They can even have him take his helmet off, but never show a face, always have it shot over the shoulder or have it out of fame. It's not that you can't show Chief, but the mystery of Chief is almost integral to the character now. I know he takes his helmet off in the books, but even then that's leaving it up to the imagination to some extent.

I also think Chief stands so strong because he's essentially a mythical character in the lore. I've always loved the excitement that the characters around you express when you show up in games; they always have captured that believe/hope attitude with such an interaction. He is elevated by his supporting cast, who largely through all the games are really solid. And maybe we can still get there, I get that the show wants to show the dark side of the UNSC, which is rightfully interesting, but it seems too rushed.

Say what you will about the Witcher show, but Cavill 100% understood how to take elements from the book and the games to create a Geralt that is fresh for TV but appeals to not one, but two existing audiences.

No Way Home was a 200mil movie and has terrible CG movement. Budget doesn’t seem to equal quality.

Let's be honest here, the developers of Last Of Us 2 killed their own franchise. They literally stuck out their middle finger to the entire fan base. It's one thing to try to take a story in a different direction for storytelling reasons, it's another to intentionally appear to incite your core fan base as a type of punishment for not being woke enough.

This is hysterical. Or tragic. People actually think like this? You literally don't know what 'literally' means. TLOU2 had female leads, what a disrespectful act against its (totally reasonable) fanbase. If something in that game triggered you, it's definitely a you issue, not one in the game.

Oh, and this Halo show looks awful.

Definitely not a him issue, it's a good percentage of the games Fanbase, you can't be so oblivious to the way they pushed an agenda.

You know what would be cool?

A Dead Space series.
I'd pay a dollar to see that.

IF. If they didnt ruin it, and theyd ruin it like they ruin everything else these days. Done right, Dead Space would be a hard R.

I was curious about this Halo show, i do not know much about that universe but i am interested. Until I read they discarded the source material.

Eff all these Hollywood types that think theyre going to disrespect the source material and we will lap it up anyways. Really tired of that mindset

I'm OK if you don't agree. We all don't have to agree. The kind of world I want to live in includes people who disagree with me.

I'm OK that you liked it or feel differently from my views. You don't appear to be OK that I have a different opinion on TLOU2 than you.

Critical Drinker has what I feel is a good overall take on how many fans felt about TLOU2.
