Picked up Christopher Lee's Dracula on sale, absolutely fantastic figure! All three heads look so good, it's hard to pick just one to use. I'm looking forward to adding Cushing's Van Helsing, I hope Reed's werewolf will be next.

That's one fugly looking figure. Wearing a slim fit coat shouldn't result in shoulder loss or prevent the arms from falling to the sides. The vest body looks a little better, but I want Van Helsing in his pimp coat! What's with those head sculpts? They look like the startled guy who gets unmasked at the end of a Scooby Doo cartoon. The sculpts are probably good, it's the eye painting that's making them look cartoonish. I just feel like I've seen better Cushing sculpts on various Star Wars Tarkin figures. NECA's Lee Dracula figure was pretty great - not the most accurate head sculpt on the neutral face, but the rest was great - so much that I bought two of them! Gotta have a good Van Helsing to fight one of those Draculas.

Sometimes these NECA figures just don't turn out well and this might be one of them. Okay, to be fair, I'll reserve some judgement since this is only one promo/proto pic. I should probably shut up because I'm still gonna buy this considering I've waited a couple of decades for my Hammer fix and now we're actually getting them in 1:6 and 1:12 scale. This Van Helsing isn't perfect but, you know... that'll do pig, that'll do.

NECA seems to be having a lot of issues these days. Late product, quality issues, double shipments of TMNT stuff, etc. Add to that; Clearancing items at stores, liquidating stuff that's been returned en masse damaged at retailers ( in "blind boxes"), and various BBB complaints, and I have to wonder if they are going to be able to circle the wagons, and not the drain.

I feel like they've been circling the drain since COVID.

Sideshow had a major issue around 2005 with Toys R Us sending a lot of product that TRU had purchased, back to Sideshow because it wasn't selling. This was just after Bain Capitol bought TRU. It was costing Sideshow a lot of money to warehouse all this merchandise. Sideshow said F-retail and went website exclusive from then on.
Now it appears this is standard practice of retailers sending back the unsold merchandise they purchased to the manufacturer. I'm going to make a guess that since Neca started getting their products into Target and Walmart stores a couple of years ago, that this is part of their deal. Neca is just trying to make some money back with the blind box program.
I've watched a number of videos and looked at pictures and reports of what people got in their blind boxes, a few instances of broken figures, missing accessories, and one incident of a product swap out with Classified GI Joes. Quite a few box dings in the early ones but overall, the stuff they had gotten was good. A lot of the bad stuff people got was due to the volume and rush to send out boxes. There was a few reports of people getting 9 or 10 items when people early on got 14, that was brief and it appears that Neca is sending out the standard 14 items for $130 now with pristine boxes. The majority of those customers I get the impression, are not Neca fans or even action figure collectors and are just looking to make a buck. Which is why they complain a lot.

I picked up Horrors of Dracula for $27, I wish I held out at $15, maybe I can get them to refund the difference?
