Indeed. I sometimes get caught up in things around here regarding the scrutiny of figures, but truly, I am very happy with the caliber 1/6 figures are at these days.

When I got my first Sideshow and Hot Toys figures, I was blow away. I was so used to Hasbro's misproportioned base bodies, limited articulation and poorly done clothes, the Sideshow line was a HUGE breath of fresh air. When I got Episode 3 Anankin and every part of his costume was a full piece, not some half assed dickie shirt or halter top type thing trying to cut back on materials, I was amazed and excited.

1/6 figures offer the realism and quality solid plastic stuff, and especially the 6 inch and smaller scaled figures, just can never offer, and are the types of figures I know I dreamed of my little 4" Hasbro Star Wars figures being.

You have to admit though, Hasbro's 3.75 inch figures have some of the best likenesses the last few years, especially some from the VOTC line and their C-3p0 that comes with the chair is a awesome figure.I think VOTC han has a great sculpt as well, the lastest Snowtrooper as well,ROTS Obi-wan #55 with robe and headset is a great Ewan Mc Gregor likeness..more so then SSC atempt at this character in ROTS.

I was pretty shocked when I got my very first Sideshow figure as well. It was a James Bond figure and I thought it was broken because his neck was tilted to the side. I opened it up anyways and realized that it was just that articulated.

You guys are right, for all the criticism we may have, Sideshow still makes some truly awesome figures. And in some ways I think the criticism is a reflection of this because when we get something a little under standard, we know they can do better.

Indeed, the Hasbro 4" figures have come a long way, and other companies make great plastic figures, NECA, Mattel's got some good stuff, but there's just only so realistic you can get at the smaller scale and the permanence of sculpted clothes.

I agree with you there but SSC ROTS Obi is awesome...just needs a custom repaint and the sculpt really shines.:D

OK boys. Who's for a quick stiffnin?

Mmmmm, much better, I can stand up, raise my arms and generally be an "Action" figure.

All jokes aside, the HT Slim body is just soooo much tighter than SS armoured body. Couple of things to watch.
1) waist is a bit thicker so mid section armour is very snug.
2) Thighs are also thicker I had to dislocate the knees first to squeeze it on.
3) Can anyone here advise on the feet? Different connections - anyone modded these to fit yet?

Cheers! DG

When Sideshow first came out with the armored figures...didn't they say you couldn't remove the armor or something?

The Clone Trooper armor, it was asked if it was removable, the torso pieces on that one are glued together. Film accurrate for Stormies is 2 halves flopping around. Every element on the Stormtroopers slides off. Take out the feet and hands and the limbos come off and a simple head removal and unfastening frees the torso armor.

Ah, I see. I was curious about that, thought people found a way around it. Thanks for the info.

Is it possible to drill up into the hot toys shins so that the Sideshow foot pegs can slide up in there?

nayo

Try heating the peg and popping it out of the foot then the Hot Toy peg should fit in the foot, if it's like the Sideshow Indy .

I decided to go for the option which caused the least damage!

I ordered a couple of spare sets of Pegs from Black Ops Toys incase I screwed up, then shaved the bottom "Ball" off the foot peg.
<a href="https://s593.photobucket.com/albums/tt20/Darthgothikus/Han%20and%20Luke/?action=view&current=Peg.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="https://i593.photobucket.com/albums/tt20/Darthgothikus/Han%20and%20Luke/Peg.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Now the SS Shoe fits on the peg and I keep the HT ankle articulation!

All in all I'm pretty happy with the conversion however I would say that it's not perfect.

1) Slim body is still "thicker" than SS armoured body - makes Luke look a bit bulky round the waist.

2) Just handling the armour has caused some paint rubs! There are some serious issues with the paintwork on the Han & Luke set! - Probably due to it being Gloss rather than the regular Matt version but still - irritating.

3) The hands keep falling off! might need a bit of tape.

4) Luke now looks like he has "Giraffe Neck" I've tried both the HT neck and SS neck and it just looks odd with both - The SS headsculpt is much bigger than the HT head which i think is throwing it off.It also means the slight height difference I had with the True Type is lost as now Luke is actually a bit taller due to his 6' neck!

Hmmm.... need to think about a few tweaks or we go back to the regular floppy body and try to fix the loose joints on that.

Don't you just love this hobby :google:rotfl

the slim TT is much shorter, here's evidence.

For the too long neck problem you're having on your mod, if you use a regular TT neck it will fix the problem. the slim TTs have way too long necks in general. This luke has a regualr TT neck...

LOL hello sailor! Luke appears to have that "I like you but I can look at your down stairs trouser parts" LOL

Did use the normal TT feet on that Han? I'm doing the same setup with mine but I have some Newline boots on order. Anyway, in the menatime I was trying to get the SS boots back on and had a hell of a time. Did you warm the boots up first?

Also, did you put your old Han head onto the Stromtrooper body? I did and it looks pretty good. the ST neck wrap was a little tight on Hans neck but once it was on there it worked fine.

i have pics of the feet if you want me to email them to you .. very easy

Hey Flosi,

yup i warmed Han's boots up and squeezed those feet in like crazy they're pretty much never coming out now lol! I also cut the socks off because i found they were making the crotch of the pants sit much too low.

I actually got my Han outfit loose off ebay so i would probably use the head on the body if I did. But instead its just a normal stormtrooper that I will interchange this head with from time to time. .

I used the rubber chair cap trick on the stormtroopers and its amazing. full mobility of the head, looks like there is a head inside. It works fantastic!

Thanks Raymond. I'll just wait for my Newline boots then. I also noticed that the pants seemed to sit a bit low and was planning on doing the same with the socks but since I'm not going to be using his original boots for long I don't want to get a pair of TT feet stuck in them forever. Did you use a narrow or standard TT?
