This is one I really wish could have been hollow plastic and sold separately from the wall dio. That way it could be sold cheap and I would open it up to add LED lighting.

No, no...this is Sideshow. You're thinking HASBRO! :lol

Considering any SSC Han in Carbonite, even plastic, would be $60+ most likely, cheaper to start with Hasbro as a base, which is close enough in sculpt quality.

And then everyone would ^^^^^ because it wasn't made of polystone. Although it would have been nice to have Han separate from the wall.

I cancelled mine for now,
I'll pick it up later, it's just that when it comes to expensive pieces like this one, California Taxes kill me...
it's total $225.00 or so!!!
I can find it somewhere else for like $190.00 shipped...

I also got the notification... I was really hoping for some more time to think about this. I think I may end up keeping the Han, and axing the Ex. Vader. Ugh...

Completely the opposite for me. I actually don't understand this bizarre fascination SSC and fellow collectors have with that far-too-brittle material. Is it more "collectible" because it's very heavy and easily damaged? I love my Jabba throne (didn't love the price), but STILL don't understand why it had to be made out of that material. I'll bet a lot of you canceling the Carbonite Han right now are doing so because of the high price tag on this piece. I don't blame you. I'm keeping my Han, only because he represents one of my most memorable scenes from SW...certainly not because he's "polystone."

Of course everyone wants lower prices but I think people want their high end stuff to not only look like quality but also feel like quality. People associate cheap plastic with toys not collectibles. I'm not saying its good or bad it just seems to me thats how a lot of people think.

Why would anyone axe Vader for THIS? Sorry I have both but Vader should be the priority.

Exactly, look at the uproar over the Boba Fett PF, everyone was pretty PO'd because he was plastic and not polystone...

Reason being - there will be a few more variations of Vader, down the road.

People were PO'd because he was the PRICE of polystone, but made out of plastic. I thought that was the big problem. Also, it was a bit of a bait and switch, as the plastic body was not announced from the get-go.

As a collector of high-end Japanese Macross figures, I take offense to the idea that plastic = toy. Hold one Yamato Valkyrie in your hands and you'll quickly see that "plastic" does not instantly translate to Hasbro or "toy" quality.

I think people were upset because Sideshow was still charging the same amount as other PFs that were 100% polystone aside.

I don't own anything made of polystone, but I keep reading on this board that it is quite brittle. I even saw Pitu break some by accident on video. He barely pushed the hand on and crack!

I don't consider the excess weight of a collectible an important issue. We aren't weight training with our collectibles. Extra weight just makes things more difficult to ship, store, and transport later.

I care about the visual appeal of a piece. I have seen quite detailed plastic casts. Most details are limited by the paint application. Also, polystone brings more limitations. I imagine it would much more difficult to create and delicate to maintain a hollow version that contained electronics for a proper number of constant/flashing LEDs on both sides. A strong plastic shell would be more feasible to achieve this.

Why would I rather have Sideshow make a plastic one than Hasbro? Well I don't own the Hasbro version, but isn't the sculpt pretty bad? I know the Han bundled with it has neanderthal proportions.

Does anyone have this model kit or know if it is ever sold on ebay?

Not to dredge that whole thing up again, but... Bingo! :lecture
