damn! Not to add to the pile on... but this is not at all what I expected. I thought they were hiding the horizontal display because they were going to blow us away! What a flop. I don't think anyone will ever display this horizontally, it looks ridiculous. Couldn't they think of something smarter? What about like something that attaches to the the waist or upper thigh of a figure with a clear rod that supports the slab, you could have one figure on each side, so you can have 2 stormtroopers escorting the carb slab or a stormy on one and fett on the other. That was just me thinking for 10 seconds. They couldn't spend more time on this to maximize display options? This displayed horizontally leaves absolutely no practical display options. I would've preferred a clear rod in the center of the slab supporting it. Nothing cool about horizontal at all. I'm more upset about the horizontal display finally being revealed and it not at all being creative, especially for a creative team, than I am about the price. If the display was awesome it could've been justified. This gets a complete FAIL. How about you sell just the slab for $150 and you keep the display bases.

Let's think of all the great options they could do instead of what they've done and start the petition to give them better options before they crank these all out. This is clearly a fail.

Didn't they levitate the Delorean with magnets? Why can't you magnetize the slab? is it too heavy? I'd seriously be happy with a clear rod slot and put a fat clear rod in the center of it, like we all did with the probe droid. Or even two clear rods. Or an acrylic clear box that it sits on? I'd literally take anything than this for $250. Either get rid of the base and lower the price or try again.

*throws computer around the room*

they should have just made this thing "horizontal only" and come up with a neat way to give it a true hover effect like gg did back in the day.

I kinda think it looks a little spiffy and pre-ordered. Will look nice on the desk next to my monitors. Price may be a bit inflated, but isn't everything these days?

Personally i think the new one looks a lot better than the original. its a more accurate sculpt. But i do like the original Jabba wall much much better.

Its $50 more than the original. Ehh, nothing to get too upset about IMO. its from 7+ years ago. prices on all toys have gone up dramatically since then, so I am not surprised in any way this is $50 more.

I will wait and see what the final product looks like before i purchase him though. Since i dont have the original, I always wanted this but i am not going to pay the going price for the original since its much more than $250.

You are talking about a "creative" team that has been constantly regurgitating past figures over the past year.

If this had included an Ugnaught i would have probably bought it. I have the original and will just stick with that. It would have been nice to display it with the bounty hunters but the base is silly in that regard.

Yeah, they really should have done something like that. Used the (crappy) Jawa body - it would have been fairly simple and would have made the price more than worth it.

Price aside, the base is a real head scratcher. Sideshow put a lot of thought and engineering into getting to "float" securely but overlooked how in that horizontal position it is an accessory to Stormtroopers and Bounty hunters. The integrated base leaves no good display options for setting this scene, so what's the point of positioning that way?

It is a really weird decision - having this huge block having to sit so close underneath the horizontal carbonite block, and that huge ugly steel post and "tongs" needed to support it. It's so obvious and so obtrusive and a total headscratcher as to why they thought it was cool.

Really poor decisions on the part of SSC's design team.

I’m sure it’s the same argument they gave for not including a clear rod on the probe droid. “Plastic could warp over time while the metal won’t.”

The clear rod debate went on with the Probot, but in the end many people said high end models are displayed with clear rods for years without issues, especially if it's simply a model sitting on top of a vertical solid acrylic post (i.e. not a thinner acrylic tube positioned at an angle.)

This will come with the 'too tight/small packaging' that SS has been using of late. Hell, if this came in a beautiful DX style package it would be worth maybe $150....

Friggin' joke, but nope, NO joke!

They could have reissued the old one for this price. Simply recast.

you are comparing apples to oranges. the old one came with a large and expensive wall. I shudder to think how much SS would ask if they reissued it today. guaranteed it would be waay more than $250, if they have the balls to ask $250 for this.

The product description states that the side panel lights up (probably just the "hero" panel) which can be located on one side or the other. Nice touch. The description also states that the base lights up so I don't know why they haven't shown any photos of all the lighting features yet? The sculpt is definitely a lot better than the Jabba's palace version and also better than their Premium Format version too in my opinion. Worth the price? I'm undecided at the moment.

yeah I`m happy with there first release.now if the panels lite up or something I might have got it. but 250.00 for just a figure or statue pass. I cant remember what it cost for the whole diorama back in 07 I think that was the year but at least you got your moneys worth back then. :dunno

I'm very underwhelmed with the overall quality of this piece... especially for the price. The sculpt just looks cheap and a bit more cartoonish than a believable shrunken version of Han in carbonite. The sixth image on their website makes Han's face look more like Baraka from Mortal Kombat than anything. As much as I was looking forward to this as a companion piece for my bounty hunters, I'll be waiting for the reviews on this one before I commit.

The price is not an issue for me. It's already been preordered! I cannot wait to add this with my new bounty hunter collection that SS has been putting out. I'm really excited.

I'm honestly still staggered by the price on this one! Their articulated 1/6th scale figures like Darth Maul etc are mostly cheaper. I mean, it's been only a couple years since we got the Darth Vader Deluxe that was absolutely stacked with accessories etc for the same $250 price tag!! Just unbelievable how they have priced this one.......

They just overestimated their products and demand for this niche product. Highly. I'm looking forward to see their fall back on the ground.

I can't believe that they have been able to get away with their current pricing and lower service and quality control for as long as they have. Sadly people continue to support Sideshow by buying the stuff. I don't see that changing.

The markup is so high on these items that Sideshow is happy to take the money from those few paying full price, and even more happy to then sell out at a steep markdown. They are still turning a nice profit even at blowout pricing.
