I still have my Dreamcast, and I still play it every now and then. I remember waiting in line at EB during the midnight 9/9/99 launch. I picked up a Dreamcast, extra controller, two VMUs, Soul Calibur, House of the Dead, Marvel vs. Capcom, NFL 2K, and Sonic…as well as Final Fantasy IX for Playstation. Thank god I had just received my financial aid that week. Nothing like spending your financial aid on crap instead of school.
I ditched classes the next day, since I didn’t make it home until about 3:30 or so, and played Dreamcast all day. The employees must have been dead tired, because they forgot to ring up Sonic, but I returned the next day and had them ring me up (yeah, pretty stupid of me…but integrity is priceless). Ended up returning Sonic as I didn’t really like it (this was back when EB still had their policy where you could return games if you didn’t like them within a certain amount of days for a full refund).
I loved my PS more, but I still loved the Dreamcast as well. In addition to the games mentioned above, I also had Resident Evil: Code Veronica (awesome game); NBA 2K; Zombie Revenge (great beat ‘em up, wish I had kept it); Dead or Alive 2; Space Channel 5; Marvel vs. Capcom 2; Street Fighter 3: Double Impact; Street Fighter 3: Third Strike; Bust-A-Move 2; Samba de Amigo, and Shenmue (never finished that game).
Those were the glory days of gaming for me, with the Playstation, Sega Saturn, N64 out, and then Dreamcast and PS2 coming out. Loved staying up at night playing games and ditching class.
When I think about it, the list of consoles/handhelds I’ve owned is ridiculous:
Nintendo Entertainment System (long dead)
Sega Genesis (long dead)
Super Nintendo (long dead)
Gameboy (sold)
Sony Playstation (still alive and kicking)
Sega Saturn (still alive and kicking)
Sega Dream Cast (still alive and kicking)

N64 (still alive and kicking)
Gameboy Advance (sold)

Sorry for heading off topic. Happy post-mortem birthday, Dreamcast.
