i used to have a bunch of bootleg dreamcast games..i was 15. if i could get it free or cheap i did. It actually was my favorite part of the system. i still bought games, but instead of renting i got the bootlegs.

ohh yeaa !! thanks to the dreamcast I got to play the first Shenmue and got so Hooked on the story line. What a groundbreaking game back then.
EPIC GAME!
Played Shenmue 2 on XBOX and I hope part 3 will be made for the next gen consoles.

AMAZING GAME !!
:happybday DREAMCAST and thanks for all the fun !

What's cool about Shenmue is that it started life as a title developed on the Sega Saturn.

For me, the Dreamcast's library of titles was more than enough to justify the cost of buying the console. I'd say if any platform has at least 10 titles that you really love, then it's a platform worth owning.

:lecture

My friend's always make fun of me because I always end up buying every console that is released. They always ask me why I just don't pick one and stick with it. I always replay that by picking up every system I can play the best games that are released...not just the great games on one system.

wow ! I had no Idea sega saturn was working on this project.
my god ! I am glad it came out on dreamcast first.
great post man.

Don't forget RE Code Veronica, D2, and their version of Dino Crisis. Sonic Adventure, NFL2k series, Crazy Taxi, man I keep thinking of them. I really did like this system. I think an included hardrive would have helped it too.

ohh hell yeaa !! dreamcast so many great games.
when I first got it was such a great day !

I loved Shenmue.. good to know it's still appreciated here! I've completed both games, and I'm still unhappy that III will never come out. It had probably the best ambient music in any game. The game always kept you thinking with its little plot twists.. more than you could ask for from in a simple revenge plot.

The DC had a great, fun library. Lots of original stuff like PowerStone.

The Dreamcast was definitely a great system. I don't know how many hours I killed just wandering around the town in Shenmue. And who could forget Seaman? One of the weirdest games ever. :lol

I still have my Dreamcast, and I still play it every now and then. I remember waiting in line at EB during the midnight 9/9/99 launch. I picked up a Dreamcast, extra controller, two VMUs, Soul Calibur, House of the Dead, Marvel vs. Capcom, NFL 2K, and Sonic…as well as Final Fantasy IX for Playstation. Thank god I had just received my financial aid that week. Nothing like spending your financial aid on crap instead of school. :lol I ditched classes the next day, since I didn’t make it home until about 3:30 or so, and played Dreamcast all day. The employees must have been dead tired, because they forgot to ring up Sonic, but I returned the next day and had them ring me up (yeah, pretty stupid of me…but integrity is priceless). Ended up returning Sonic as I didn’t really like it (this was back when EB still had their policy where you could return games if you didn’t like them within a certain amount of days for a full refund).

I loved my PS more, but I still loved the Dreamcast as well. In addition to the games mentioned above, I also had Resident Evil: Code Veronica (awesome game); NBA 2K; Zombie Revenge (great beat ‘em up, wish I had kept it); Dead or Alive 2; Space Channel 5; Marvel vs. Capcom 2; Street Fighter 3: Double Impact; Street Fighter 3: Third Strike; Bust-A-Move 2; Samba de Amigo, and Shenmue (never finished that game).

Those were the glory days of gaming for me, with the Playstation, Sega Saturn, N64 out, and then Dreamcast and PS2 coming out. Loved staying up at night playing games and ditching class.

When I think about it, the list of consoles/handhelds I’ve owned is ridiculous:
Nintendo Entertainment System (long dead)
Sega Genesis (long dead)
Super Nintendo (long dead)
Gameboy (sold)
Sony Playstation (still alive and kicking)
Sega Saturn (still alive and kicking)
Sega Dream Cast (still alive and kicking)
Playstation 2 (still alive and kicking)
N64 (still alive and kicking)
Gameboy Advance (sold)
Gameboy SP (still alive and kicking)
Xbox (still alive and kicking)
Gamecube (still alive and kicking)
Nintendo DS (sold)
PSP (still alive and kicking)
Nintendo DS Lite (still alive and kicking)
Xbox 360 (RRODed, then sold after refurbished)
PS3 (still alive and kicking)
Nintendo Wii (still alive and kicking AND ACCUMULATING DUST)

Sorry for heading off topic. Happy post-mortem birthday, Dreamcast.
