You know what will make the Joker value go up? If Harley's edition size is larger than the Joker's. People are gonna want to partner Joker with Harley. If there's less Jokers than Harley, the value of Joker goes up. Simple supply and demand.

Tomorrow begins the long wait

Nothing special tomorrow. I will be going to the gym and out to lunch at the time of the PO. Too bad that price hike made me not order this, at least not until I see some ES numbers.

Who cares CBG, I showed my buddy Harley's pf (he knows nothing much of SS) and he was like "Ugh, why'd they give her that face?" IMHO this isn't one of SS's greatest female pieces so you won't be missing much. Big pass for me. Baroness, Vampirella, Ivy all looked gorgeous. This one should have looked more playful like the DC direct piece, not outright freakish. Personally, I wasn't impressed. SS could have done much better. Please SS don't mess up WW or it'll be another pass for me.

As for the pricing of these pieces these days, I think that in the end how much you pay really does show dedication toward the piece. For example, I recently got in my 1/4 Ganondorf from First 4 Figures. He cost about $500 and yet there hasn't been even a small trace of regret in me at all. It's the most I've ever spent for a piece and even a lot of my favorite figures I have somewhat regretted purchasing them. With this piece though he's a true work of art. Massive, detailed, beautifully painted, etc.. He has such presence on the shelf.

And in a lot of ways Ganondorf has me reevaluating what it really means to spend this much on statues. Characters like Superman and Harley Quinn are not something I care deeply about at all so why have I agreed to spend so much on them? Part of the issue with this whole 1/4 scale statue thing is that by nature of the product each piece is going to be very expensive, meaning they cannot produce as many and you have to be selective.

I mean think about it. If this was a line of 1/12 scale figures we could just buy every single release no big deal at all. Throw down thirty to forty bucks each and they come out once a month or once every few months it's no big deal and easy to justify buying even the weaker characters. With this though? Nearly half a grand on some C lister that I have no real historical connection with. It's a bit eye opening.

I think even if a piece looks amazing, when you finally get it if you don't have that connection to the character already you definitely miss out on a sort of intrinsic value that really makes the piece shine. I think that's what happens a lot when people go "Oh don't mind the pics they really can't capture how awesome this thing looks in person" and such. Maybe I'm just rambling I don't know.

All in all I just hope I remember this on Thursday. At the very least I think I'll hold off on preordering. I don't like the EX anyway. Maybe over the next year I might find a deeper enjoyment of Harley Quinn, but until then this isn't worth the money for me.

I just got into this hobby and was wondering if some statues creep up in value after a while or if you can tell right away if they are going to be worth quite a bit? Collecting for the beauty of a piece is one thing but putting money into something as expensive as what we pay is not worth it if they don't increase or hold their value.
