So, with the 6" line, would everyone prefer all sculpted or Soft Goods? For myself, soft goods could be pretty awful in this scale - if Hasbro continues to use similar 'cloth' as they do in the 3 3/4"

I vote sculped all the way.No Tarkin skirts for this line.....

Red Metal - I see your point regarding Hasbro's mediocre planning with getting their stuff out there.. but I don't agree with you about R2 being a bad seller.

I've just seen way too many R2s pegwarming in the 3.75" range over the years. And this includes all other versions of Astromechs, as well.

Again, R2 will involve the least amount of work and detail, so I think the $20 price tag will drive alot of people away. I mean, certainly it will be difficult to find completists with this line - wave one is going to cost people $80 + tax for a set of four figures. I think more people will pick and choose.

An awesome vader or Fett would really give the line momentum.

How do you draw that conclusion? He's got fine details all over him. :lol

That would certainly be true, if R2 was just a plain white dust bin with a blue dot for an eye & an added decal - & GG have that covered with the retro Jumbo Kenner one. :lol

I agree that R2 is detailed, but this is Hasbro. They're going to make him all white with alittle smeared on blue, silver, and black paint and they'll call it a day. :lol

Technically, Luke, Sandie, and Maul will have more paint apps, joints, and accessories. I just know that the line can't and won't survive on the collector's purchases alone, so I hope Hasbro finds a way to make a $20 R2 interesting to the soccer moms and kiddies. Especially, given other licenses in the 6" figure game - like Iron Man and Batman that are cheaper in the $15+ range and, in the case of Iron Man, will be hitting stores this summer.

R2 is popular, but I don't know if he can tow the line in wave one - maybe he should have been in wave two in a two-pack with another astromech droid?

Firstly; you don't like the little 4" ones? They're excellent - especially specific releases like the 'Jawa attack' version from the 2009/10 Legacy line. Great detail, nice paint apps for the most part, & a nice little analogue of the onscreen R2. :)

I agree Hasbro are hit & miss with their paint apps - across all their lines, but I think they cop a lot of unnecessary flack for their SW work sometimes. In some cases, their 4" figures are BETTER than SSC's efforts. Case in point: the Gamorean Guard from the 2010 Vintage Collection. That little figure is a dead ringer in every way for the character & the extra in costume look - & has well designed articulation out the wazoo. The SSC one has significant issues.

Secondly; the Sandie is more detailed than R2? No way. :lol A bit of light brown paint smeared all over it, some black for the sections between the armour, some detailing on the helmet, & a little dab of grey/blue here & there on the back pack. R2 is bursting with detail. :lecture

I'm not trying to be argumentative RM, just enjoying the debate. :peace

No problem, man. I'm also not trying to ruffle anyone's feathers about it, I just have a different point of view.

I agree that R2 has some good detail, absolutely. But as a figure, he's just alot simpler in design and execution than a humanoid figure. Much of R2's body is going to be probably a few pieces of plastics (maybe four), then the legs will probably one piece each, so not alot of components. Now compare that to the Sandie, which has multiple components in each apendage alone.

Now, you mentioned the TVC Gammie and that's another great point. In each Hasbro wave they have a maximum cost they can get to. Now some figures in the wave get alot of treatment and others do not - not every figure is designed the same and not every figure has the same production cost. The Gammie came out in wave three of TVC along with Jedi Luke - who was very simple. They offset each other, so in the end Hasbro spent more on the production of the Gammie and less on Luke. I see the same thing here with the 6" R2 - he's there because he's easy to produce and offsets the cost of the other three figures. And R2 offsets their cost, by being cheaper to make.

Now what will really be interesting to me with the 6" R2 is if Hasbro gives him electronics like they have with the 3.75" R2s in the past. Electronics could very well nullify my entire production cost arguement for R2.

I was going to pass on R2..... Now thinking if he has decent lights & sound, plus a pop out sabre handle !!!!!!

Damn. I'm going to be one of the few completist collectors arn't I? :slap

I might buy the core characters. But really, only Boba.

And Matty Watchmen? What in the ****? I had no idea about this, and wanted them for 5 seconds before I knew their full price.

No thanks.

Ok yeah - in that context, agreed. :)

Again - agreed, you make some good points there about spreading the costs between figures.

Well, yeah - that'd make me reconsider things too. :lol

As it stands, they've managed in the past as you say, to incorporate electronics into the smaller scale & still keep those figures at or around the regular pricing. I'm wondering then, whether the electronics inside a 6" scaled R2 would require any further refining or sophistication, being that essentially they could just use the same chips for the lights & sounds?

Hmm.. food for thought anyway.

Or...what if the R2 has every possible opening panel and attachment you could ask for...that would be worth it...

I want to see a well made 6" C-3PO and R2-D2. Wish this was 7" line, to match in scale with all the other 7" figures I've have....but the more I think of this larger scale, the more excited I get

Electronics, all panels and accesories, and a functional third leg and I could get to that $20 asking price. Throw in a drink tray from Jabba's barge and I think it would be complete and very accurate for a "best of" line that Hasbro is trying to go for.

If this line ends up being a 'one pass' affair with each character they release.. we could get an all encompassing R2. It's a stretch though.

Chances are, that Hasbro simply could not be bothered going there - but hey, they could be bothered making 12" party favour figures.. so who knows really. :huh :lol

Yeah, same here, I wish they were gonna be in the 7" scale to fit in with the Stargate figures, Battlestar Galactica figures and NECA's figure lines.

I haven't bought a Hasbro SW figure since 2005.... I'm so in for this line. I really hope Hasbro is smart and doesn't flood the market with variant characters right away and so often. Let this X-Wing Luke be the only X-Wing Luke they make. And at 8 figures a year, we can't afford to have a Luke in every wave. If they plan on making this line last, they would be smart and continue the pattern of including one hero, one villain, and two droid/trooper/alien creatures just as this first wave gives us.
