The Sandtrooper is still the benchmark so far. :lecture

Luke is great too, but the rest haven't wowed me at all - especially the R2 unfortunately.

Colour me interested if they release a Boushh.

It just doesn't even remotely look like Hayden. Nevertheless, guess I'm with FLOSI, this wasn't a must for me, so I'll look past it. Does instantly negate my interest in Obi too though, and since I happen to not be planning on buying the normal troopers, seems wave 3 will only bring me my first Luke.

Re: Han Solo- Proportions look funny. Head and hands seem a teeeeeeny bit too big. Don't love the head sculpt, but the body is good and the holster is great.

I like the sculpt....but yea im trying to decide if his head is too big or if its the lighting and photos....

Here's the thing... even w/out factoring in the "human character faces are often 'growers more than showers'" in the sculpt department....

Still, I wager that if you were to show that figure's head to anyone anywhere that collected these kinds of figures, whether they admitted it or not, they'd look at that head and say "Were they trying to sculpt Hayden?"---and that's "worst case scenario"---and, to me, that's more recognizable than "not remotely".

Granted, I'm not much of a "PT guy". So, I guess *that's* to be considered.

But also consider that I think the Hamill, Ford and even the Fisher sculpts have been "very good" to "great". And I think Ewan looks real good too.

Regardless, I bet when the final Anakin gets in people's hands, at least *some* people's tunes will change.

See, it's actually because I agree with your last statement, that I do think 'not even remotely' is a justified way of putting it. Most 3.75" figures have better sculpts than this Anakin has and he's friggin 6". That people recognise who it's meant to be says little to nothing imo, because there's plenty of stuff that gives it away that doesn't at all have to do with sculpted detail. The outfit and hair alone will make you think Anakin, even if you blurred out his face completely (which they might as well at this point).

In short, imo as it looks on this picture, this head sculpt is god awful.

Makes sense.

I agree with that, but I was actually factoring in the hair and the scar with the admittedly "mediocre to poor" sculpt.

Han looks great, i think they all do with the exception of scale issues on R2 and the head sculpt on Anakin (which is just a proto so hopefully the finished product will be better).

These figures are amazing for the price. $20, full articulation 6" Star Wars. What's not to like. They might not be Sideshow quality but at 1/10th the price they are much better value for money. I'll be buying them all but only picking up the best Sideshow figures.

Hi guys, long time no post. I kinda lost interest in Hasbro's Star Wars figures recently, the 3 3/4" line has been harder to find in my area, and I dont like the 5 POA figures. I wasnt thrilled about the 6" line at first, as I didn't want to start a new scale, and didn't have much faith in Hasbro's quality, paint apps or useful articulation. Imagine my surprise when I saw the Sandtrooper at my local Barnes and Noble. It looked great in package, and a quick scan of the forum showed the figure was recieved pretty well by most folks here.

So I decided tp purchase it, and I was impressed with the sturdy double joints, especially the hip and rocker ankles. The figure looks great in any pose, and more importantly the helmet wasnt oversized. It was nice to find the Sandtrooper specific kneepad and abdominal armor etc. If I had one area where I felt any improvement was needed with the sand weathering. I felt it was too random and not accurate to screencaps or photos.

So I decided to strip the weathering and start all over. I removed the weathering with non-acetone nail polish remover. I used a combination of acrylic paints and weathering powders sealed with a flat clear.

Here are the results:

I tried to keep the weathering of dust restrained on the backpack and weapons, it seemed to show up more on the white armor.

The figure has no problems with a wide combat stance, very stable joints.

And a final encore image copied from a screencap.

I can't wait to get more Imperial troops in the 6 inch scale, especially Snowtroopers. Hope you all enjoyed the pics.
