Vader looks kinda cool:

Reminds me of the original Kenner Vader. The helmet is sitting way too high, and he looks like he has a pot belly. But there's something kinda nice about it.

wait those are the black figures in that pic? the biker, padme, etc? they look horrible compared to luke. and why is mark wahlberg dressed as a jedi? or are they 3 3/4 scale black?

No. The only 6" Black series figure that has been shown is Luke.

Those other figures you're seeing were part of a canceled Droid Factory series, if I'm not mistaken - old stuff. No 3 3/4" Black Series figures have been shown yet, but from the sound of it they'll just be more of a continuation of the current vintage series - nothing on the level of the 6" Black Series figures.

No, those might be Black figures they're in front of the 3 3/4" Vader Black Series packaging. Definitely not the 6" lineup, though. Luke is the only one that's been shown so far.

I haven't collected 3 3/4" stuff since '05 or '06 but I'd be ticked that they're once again changing the packaging. The vintage packaging is by far the greatest SW toy packaging conceived. The OTC from '04 follows closely and pure nolstagia makes me quite fond of PotF2 (especially the red cards without the holograms).

They should have reserved this minimalist Black Series approach for the 6" figures.this is surely the most exciting thing for me Hasbro's done since PotF2 launched. Starting from scratch is gonna be great. I was a completist for 10 years. That likely added to my burnout and disdain for both SW and Hasbro. I'm gonna focus on core characters from the OT. Boba is the most obscure character I intend on getting. Haven't made my mind up about character variations yet. Luke X-Wing is my favorite look for the character so I'm set so far.

Yea, Luke x-wing and Luke Bespin were always my favorite looks for Luke. I hope they do a few looks for each of the OT characters.

Supposedly the SDCC Exclusive is Boba Fett with Han Solo in carbonite.

Darth Maul: Still has the inaccurate lightsaber (blades should be longer) and I hope they lose the belt pin and just provider a second unlit saber. The softgoods sections don't look bad and help break-up the straight black color. Now, in the back it looks like there's a second headscult attached to a plastic cloaks that looks terrible. Plastic cloaks look terrible in 3.75" scale and they look even worse.

R2: Well, if Maul can come with a giant black shroud of plastic, then R2 can come with more accessories. I like what's shown so far, because he does have the PT side rockets, so it looks like it could be a complete version of the figure. If there's a serving tray, then this is the definitive 6" R2.

Sandie: Might be the best of the lot. Great dirt paint apps and the helmt looks solid.

BEAUTIFUL! Thanks for sharing those pics! I like what I see. VERY HAPPY with R2!!! I just hope his doors aren't so wonky on the final figure. Not interested in Maul.

Same goes for the soft-goods. I can't comprehend how somebody could think that skirt actually looks good.

Can't wait to see who else Hasbro ****s up with soft-goods.

More clearer images of the figures at SirSteve'sGuide.
